View Full Version : Party plan without home parties..

Hi Everyone,

In the past i have been a consultant for several different party
plans. I have found that I am not a "party person". I have never really
had a successful party. I have spent hundreds of dollars on open
houses, parties, etc.. and had very little return. I have done a lot
better just by collecting orders through the catalogs. Is there a good
party plan that does really good sales by just doing "catalog parties"?
I need products that are very reasonably priced. I live in a low income
area and it is very hard to get people to buy. I have done pretty good
with Avon, but really don't want to go back to it. Is there anything
else that is similar?

Thanks!

Beth

Hi Beth:

I'm right there with you. I tried 3 other companies before finding my present company and I am having great success and haven't done one home party yet (and don't plan on it).

I think if you find a product you love, there are lots of other ways to promote without parties. I too like doing craft fairs and there is also fundraising.

Find something you love and go for it. Best of luck in your search.

With White Lily you are not required to have home parties. I have had one "open house" at my home when I first started, and other than that I have only done online and catalog orders. I had great success with catalog parties.

You can contact me if you would like more information - WhiteLilyProducts@yahoo.com

Hi folks

I do a couple of different things. Do you have any specific types of things you're interested in? One is a moderate sign up fee, and the other two are inexpensive to sign up. I actually joined one of them during a free sign up. That may be something to think about -- find some inexpensive or free join ups and see which sells for you.smileys/smiley2.gif

I do Noah's Ark Animal Workshop ~~ you can do a little selling online but it is pretty much a party ( workshop) business.

Gabby Goodies can be done either way.smileys/smiley1.gif

Greeting Cakes work very well as an online biz.smileys/smiley4.gif

Take a look at my links and let me know if they interest you!

With any biz, it needs to start with your passion. What do you enjoy? What are your interests? What drives you?

Next, look for other ways to sell/share that product. I honestly believe face to face is the best contact, but this can differ. It can be personal shopping appt, fundraisers, lunch parties, etc.

Best of luck in your search,

Debbie

Hello,

I am with Celebrations by Lillian Vernon and have found that even though my parties do well, I also do very well with my hostesses that do catalog parties. They find it much easier to take the catalog to work or to family and friends houses, rather than have a party. They are usually motivated by earning free products for themselves, so we set a sales goal that enables them to get everything that they want for free or half price.I also do fundraisers for teams and other organizations that do not require a party either. I have a fundraiser going on right now with a dance team of 20 girls and it is basically like having 20 catalog parties going on at once and I just had to supply 20 catalogs!!

Celebrations is offering a "Join With A Friend" promotion and you can get the $400 starter kit for $99.50 when you join with a friend or are paired up with a friend thrua consultant. PM me if you would like more info....here is the link....you may have to cut/paste to the browser...

Hi Beth~

I do catalog parties with Watkins. More than 50% of our community is below poverty level, but I have had great results all the same. I can do them anywhere; locally or out of state. Watkins pays the hostess rewards 100%~

I also catalog share where I take the orders and submit to Watkins. I always pass out catalogs and flyers every month~ I have built a very steady customer base and get re-orders all the time.

I'd be happy to send you additional info, and the online catalog linkif you'd like~

Good luck in your search, smileys/smiley17.giffind something that you'll find an interest in, and always ask LOTS of questions~

Hi Beth!

Silverwear is done completely online. You are provided with a website, and the items are wonderful! You can also add your own items to your site if you sell items from other companies. And if you have items that the company is really interested in, they'll put your items on everyone's site (they did this for me just recentlysmileys/smiley4.gif.

Avon offers such a wide variety now. It's not just cosmetics like it used to be. They sell clothes, jewelry, home accessories, etc. What did you like selling the most when you sold Avon? Did you enjoy the cosmetics more, the clothes, or kitchen/cooking products? Almost ALL of the party plan businesses today can be runned purely on Catalog Sales. You really do need to figure out what you would be most interested in selling. Then start asking yourself what Commission you would like to earn and Starter Kit fees, Training, etc.

There are so many great companies out there but do be careful because there are just as many great scams out there too. This is a great board with a lot of great women so at least you're in the right placesmileys/smiley2.gif Check signatures and websites and jot down all that interest you and you can always narrow your list down as you research.

Good luck & God Bless,

I actually really LIKE to do home parties but am not very pushy at getting bookings and thus my calendar ain't real full. LOL

I get about 1/3 of my sales from home shows, and the other 2/3 from online orders, catalog type parties, etc.

I don't even know of any companies that DO require you to do home parties.

A couple tips for you (I learned them the hard way!)

~Ask if there is, and what is, the monthly sales minimum.

~Ask if you can send in an order for any amount of $$

~I personally reccomend staying away from anything that encourages large inventories or that has an Auto Ship program

~Find out how many reps there are with the company.

I had been with a great, legit, well known company but they had 73000 reps! And it seemed like 72000 lived in my townsmileys/smiley36.gif Just couldn't get any business. THen I joined a company with 6,500 reps. Much more success this time around.

Best wishes, I'm sure you'll find something to suit yousmileys/smiley32.gif

I have just started wiht Gourmet 2 Go. You can do catalog shows online
shows or individual orders. The prices are very reasonable- I would say
95% are less than $5!! They are awesome food mixes that just require 1
or 2 other ingredients. There are drinks, desserts, breads, dips,
soups, and meal/meats.

And it is FREE to join! you earn 40% on all products!

Check out my website in my sig line or you can go directly to
http://www.gourmetmixes.net and check it out there and sign up there
too. You can use my name as the referral (Angie Ritter) or find another
sponsor!

Good luck in your search!!

I think almost any party business could be done without having "true" parties.

Right now I'm targeting small businesses by offering an executive gift
service for the Holidays. I'm sure almost any company offering "gift"
type products could to this service.

You can also host "e-parties" and catalog parties for most party
companies instead of holding the traditional parties. You can also do
what Mary Kay refers to as "on the go" appointments where you stop by
durring someone's lunch hour or some other time that they have 15 or so
minutes to demo a product and drop off a catalog. Again, this could be
tailered to almost any type of business. (If it isn't something you can
"demo" you could just bring some products over to show off and tempt
your customer.)

I think you need to find out which sort of business you are passionate
about and then we can help you work on the sales ideas. :-)

For the record, I've been advised that open houses are rarely worth the
money unless you already have a large customer base. Are you against
the regular parties just because you haven't been making money? Perhaps
you could give us a run-down on what you do and the usual results and
we could try to give you some suggestions.

I just started with Purely Gourmet and can say, once the people taste these products, they are HOOKED - WHICH means reorder business - without going out and doing a HOME PARTY. Just do an open house once a month and reap the benefits of orders that day and days to follow.
