I am curious as to what you do for your customers'/potential customers' birthdays. Do you offer a percentage off for the month of their birthday? Free shipping for the month of their birthday? Would love to hear from you ladies on some ideas!

Actually, I prefer not to offer any sort of incentive tied in to my clients' birthdays, anniversaries, etc. Instead, I just send a card. Just knowing that I remembered them helps to strengthen the relationship and keep my name at the forefront of their minds. And because I make the cards in Heritage Studio, the card itself keeps my business at the forefront of their minds, too! But if I were to include some sort of a special offer, I think that many would just toss it aside as another ad... rather than treasuring it as a warm fuzzy. http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif
If you build it (the relationship), they will come! http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif

I haven't tried this but it was an idea that came from another consultant. If you want to do something for a birthday this might be a great thing- especially for those people who LOVE to celebrate their birthday like me...LOL
Ahostess saidI am going to throw my own birthday party invite all my friends they buy themselves a Homeware (present for themselves) and that helps build my Hostess Credit
I will use to buy my favorite HomeWares for my Birthday.
We had so much fun with this, and you can be as creative as you want. Birthday hats, blow horns, cake or cup cakes use the Hampton Cupcake holder or the imagine this & that for cake, Tiara for birthday girl, balloons ( you can use the pop a balloon game to encourage bookings.
I used this at my booth this weekend and I booked 9 shows, one hostess said her birthday was in Feb but she is doing it in July on her husbands birthday ha ha ha. I told her we could do another one in Feb 2008
My sign read like this in bright blue, green, pink propt up on the cake plate:
HOST YOUR OWN BIRTHDAY PARTY!
When was the last time someone threw you a Birthday Party?
Host a party in your Birthday month and I'll bring the cake, or cupcakes & balloons!
Get the HomeWares you love FREE on your birthday!
I am doing another booth this weekend and you bet we'll be using this also popping the balloon game if you book a homeshow!
I can't wait to do these parties, guess I better find the best place for cakes & get a supply of balloons.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY EVERYONE!

Very unique idea, Nicole. I'll have to think about how I could incorporate that into my demonstrations as well! Thanks!

Nicole,
I love the idea, I will have to try this...
I don't know what my earlier posts were... I guess my kids were playing with my computer.

Since I am in a unique industry (travel) this might not work for others. Or it might work great since it is off the wall from most home party companies and would be unexpected.
Ipurchase travelvouchers as marketing tools. They cost $25 each and I normally hand them out at our parties ("Attend and win a vacation").
These vouchers are valid and the person only has to pay the taxes on the cost of the vacation.
Example: The vacation is valued at $3000 andthe person just pays what the taxes would be on $3k, which might be a couple hundred dollars.
Our company does not sell these vouchers, so I get them from a third party. Inexpensive marketing material and gifts if I may say so myself.
Just a thought.

With Tomboy Tools, we too have a vacation voucher incentive program for the hostess. It's handled thru a 3rd party, but TT presents it for us to use.

I have sent birthday cards at the beginning of the month of the customers birthday with a pretty coupon inside for 10% off all orders placed the entire month of their birthday and I have also done extra hostess credits if they book a party their birthday month. Kind of like Nicole, we celebrate the hostess' birthday at her show! I bring the cake and balloons too! It is always fun.Edited by: Dbacksmom

Ohhh, Cheryl, I like that idea. I will try to incorporate that for my clients' kids since I rep for BabyCrazy.
Thank you for the inspiration. I will be doing a vendor display at an upcoming fair and maybe I will post an ad about that regarding Hosting.
I wish you and everyone here much success in your businesses.
