OK, I got my catalog, smells like chocolate!

The info had nothing about the commission or start-up, but I do have a better understanding of what it is.

If your passions are: Baking & Chocolate this is the opportunity for you! http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gifIt's not what I originally thought as a already made chocolate company.

"DOVE Chocolate at Home (tm) gives conteporary connoisseurs everything they need to quickly and easily make silky smooth chocolate creations. Our exclusive DOVE (tm) products and comprehensive line of chocolate making tools are offered only through in-home Workshops, a fine chocolate experience interactivley presented by trained Choloatiers from our DOVE (tm) Chocolatiers Guild.

The hostess plan begins with free products at $149, and half price items.

The first item in the catalog is a Pro Series Tempering Unit to melt chocolate for $199. Most items are not that expensive --$10 to $40.

Other items include baking chocolate, design transfers, molds, kitchen things you'll need, cakes sets, mousse mix, dessert cups, etc.

The best part is the Girls Night OUt Kit to make Choc. Martinies ($49)and the Chocolate Martini Mix ($15)

They also have hot chocolate, Chai Tea, dusting powder, chocloate covered almonds and cranberry's, and fondue. Can't forget thecandles.

The coolest thing is the Swirled Rulffle Roll and maker. I had no idea how they did it.

Hope that gives some insight!

Debbie

OOohhh yummy sounds cool. Did you sign up as a consultant or just order a catalog?

I got a copy, too. And like Deb, it's not quite what I was expecting... lol. The focus is on products that enable you to make your own decorative chocolates at home, using Dove chocolate squares that you melt down.

I can see it being fun as a one-time party for a girls night out. I'm not sure how the sales would be, though... I think most would come just for the free samples. There are only a few edible items in the catalog, but I think that those will be the hottest sellers.

Blessings,
Christy

Thanks Deb for the information. Since I don't enjoy cooking this is a good thing for me - I won't be tempted to join, just to eat the chocolate. Do I ever love chocolate!

I rec'd my catalog too. Not what I was thinking. I think they would be good one-time types of parties, but not sure how many re-bookings (with the same hostess) there would be. Very narrow niche, but a fun concept.

A lot of us incorporate "theme parties" to expand our party bookings (ex. a chocolate lovers party, a margharita party, etc). Not sure how you could expand on this.

Ohhh I think I like it better this way! It sounds really fun! I think I need to get a catalog. Is there a rep here? Or did you all just contact the company?

Thecatalog is going to expand and they will add more items. I definitely think you could have repeat hostess since there will be two catalogs a year. You also need to remember they are under a year old and still developing the product line... I think it is only going to get better!!
From above:I'm not sure how the sales would be, though... I think most would come just for the free samples.
people come eat food a Tastefully simple demos and purchase items so don't think that would be a real issue. PLUS, consumable items are always great to sell.

I think it is a great opportunity- I am adding this as a second business. I love chocolate- I hate cooking but melting chocolate is easy! And DOVE chocolate is delicious!!!

Yeah, to get a catalog or become "first" or close to "first" in your state, contact the office. I really am not sure how the recruiting it going to work since right now it's by state. So I don't know if you can choose who you want to join under or if you are under corporate.

It will be fun to watch. I don't think it's for me, but a fun concept, and yummy.

I got my catalog as well. I expect they'll have to add more edibles in order to round out the market. Obviously, not everyone wants to MAKE chocolates and the initial line of products seemed pretty small.

I also think that this might be a fun thing to do with brides-to-be so they can make their own favors. If they just buy the chocolates, design pages, etc., and you supply the Tempering pot, it would be a win-win solution.

I need a new company like a hole in my head, but I'm sorely tempted. It just seems like so much fun!

I know the catalog doesn't do anything as far as showing what the workshops/partues are all about! I actaully drove a long way in order to see a workshop before I saw a catalog. Glad I did because I would not have signed on otherwise!

There are plenty of either ready made or simple to make items. I am no Rachel Ray or Marhta Stewart...more like Betty Crocker with a twist.
I do not love to cook or bake, I just love to eat chocolate. It's only my 3rd month but I have had a lot of sucess with bookings and repeat customers that look forward to going to the next party.

I'm not sure what the case will be years down the road (who does) but excitement is high and while my average shows are about $350. my downline is much higher at about 450+.
It's probably because they're better than me but I like to tell myself it's because I'm more focused on the opportunity then the products...lol

You need more then just the catalog, seeing a workshop is the best bet but I know it's not an option for all so let me know any questions you have and I'll do my best to answer them
thanks

Thanks for sharing! I think it has a lot of potential and can't wait to see/hear more. Even if I just become a party host!

I got a catalog too! It WAS what I was expecting. To me, it's like Pampered Chef--only with chocolate! And lots of it!

My biggest thing was that I was not so impressed with the prices of things--not that they aren't worth the price, but my area is rural WV and not big spenders on things like this. They would definately show up for the free chocolate though! Hopefully, there will be more products in the future and more ready to eat chocolates!

I received my catalog today and I like it! Prices seem reasonable. I noticed a couple of items in the catalog that are similar to products sold by another cooking company andthe prices are pretty much the same.

The Girls Night Out Chocolate Martini Kit looks very cool. Reasonably priced at $49 you get Chocolate Rimmer, Choc Martini Mix and 4 Martini Glasses!

For $49 you can also get a Dark Chocolate Molten Cake Set: 8 oz. DOVE Chef Series Dark Chocolate, mini-muffin mold, raspberry and vanilla truffle powders, shaker and recipe card. Each recipe yields 12 molten cakes.

I can definately see repeat sales from the Design Transfers, Chocolate Mousse Mix, Martini Mix, Dark Sipping Chocolate, Chocolate Chai Tea, Dusting Powders and several other items!

Anyway...thats my review! Best of luck ladies!
