I sold a jar candle on Tuesday and the lady phoned me today to me that the jar broke while on the warmer.http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley19.gif Does anyone else have any ideas, or are the jars not to be used on warmers. I do know that she does use other jars, but I am not too sure what kind.

Hi,
Sorry to hear this. Our jars are NOT to be used on warmers. This info is on the label.

It's funny when I got my first COTM I put it in a "crock pot" type of warmer and used it for several days that way and never had a problem, however, when I learned that we should not do that I quit. Didn't want to take a chance.

The caution message on every jar label says "This candle is not to be used with shades or placed on candle warmers"! You should not feel bad and she should read the label!

Also, ALL jarwarmers come with a warning that states they are not to be used with all candles and to check with the manufacturer!
So, she had 2 warnings!!!!
Since our jars have 2 wicks, there are 2 metal wick pins, which can generate more heat when sitting on a warmer - thus causing breakage!
Idea :: Sell her a votive, she can take out the wick, put it in a coffee mug on her warmerand enjoy!

Yep.
But also, the wax is so much harder, and especially the ones that heat only the bottom of the jar, the melted wax and heat stays trapped under the thick wax at the top (since it can't all melt) and causes that to happen. (Not sure that made sense)
I don't have a simmer pot yet but do as thelavenderlady suggested and it works great. :)

I purchased a candle warmer and actually read the instructions and it actually said not to use candle warmers with soy or all natural candles as they can explode when placed on warmers. So I just tossed it because that's the type of candles I buy. I was kind of ticked though, because something like that should be put on the box. I shouldn't have to buy it to find out. (Of course, I got it on clearance for like $3.)
But ya - I think it's the ingredients of the candles is what causes the problems with the warmers, not the jars..

Then how in the world are the melts safe?

Melts are safe and any wax that's not confined to a container. Jessily has the right idea. There is expansion to all things when heated. The wax in the bottom of the jars melts and expands. There is nowhere for the pressure to go since the top of the candle has the sides of the jar sealed. Enough pressure builds up and the glass simply explodes.

That is a great idea I never would've thought of. Someone gave me a warmer I haven't been able to use, because I onlyburn our candles. I've been trying to think of a way I could still use it and you just gave it to me! lol

Yes Jennifer, try taking the wick out of the votive and put it in there, you won't believe what a strong scent throw you get. I think it is stronger like this, than burning them.
I sell warmers, and I am always suggesting to people to use our votives like that. Let us know what you think after trying it! http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif

The warmers are awesome.. I love putting my votives in there.
