Has anyone ever done a presentation at a MOPS groups? If so, what did you talk about? Did you treat it like a home show? Or would you go with a different angle?
I got a list together of MOPS groups throughout my county and surrounding counties and I'm thinking about calling each of them and asking if they are looking for speakers, but I'm stumped on what I would talk about! Benefits of reading to your kids???
Since they are not a religious organization actually, I would probably have to treat it a bit differently, but I think this is a good starting point for getting my name out there more....
Would love to hear any ideas you have.

I have done a "Raising A Reader" workshop for groups that works great. You can borrow it. smileys/smiley2.gif

I have done a presentation at MOPS. We had six or seven "workshops" and (I was on Steering) and when we were planning this, I volunteered to do a workshop. I set up small table with some things but not really too much. Just talked a little bit about the product, worked with the product to show versatility, benefits of hostessing, benefits of being a decorating consultant, and that was that. I did not get any leads, however.

Bev, with your biz, I think you could give a talk or workshop on many topics that MOPS Moms would enjoy. Raising a Reader or choosing quality books for children are great ideas...but I also thought with your line of products, that something along the lines of Moms nourishing their own minds & spirits might be appropriate as well. :)

Be careful how you solicit the MOPS groups! I have found that the national organization is very picky and frown upon youeven sending them anemail. I've also been told by many MOPS groups that they are "privately" funded and therefore don't do fundraisers.....however, I think that they could manage to do a fundraiser for a non-profit organization, no matter how well funded they are......maybe you can talk to them about that! smileys/smiley36.gif

Bev, too bad you weren't closer here in PA, I'm sure my MOPS group would love your new veggie tales stuff. :)

Thanks everyone, and Debbie for your info!
I've got some really good ideas now, so I just have to start making those phone calls to the local chapters!
This website will help you find a local group:
http://www.mops.org/Groups/group_search.php?srctype=menu& (http://www.mops.org/Groups/group_search.php?srctype=menu&PHPSESSID=69ac4252d7 33efd91bf8bf9a5dc197a3) ;PHPSESSID=69ac4252d733efd91bf8bf9a5dc197a3
Then I can call the churches to get the phone number of the contact person. Most of them have email addresses too, but I believe I'll have better luck if I make a phone call instead.
Thanks again!

Most of the MOPS groups I am familiar with have lots of moms in them who have their own home based businesses, so they have guidlines in place of how they allow people to advertise their biz. I would think if you can focus on information over your specific product that will be the key, and then you can have an 'info' table set up for after. Every group is different, and they are sponsored by whatever church they are held in.
I know in our group here, we have two Mary Kay reps, two Cretive Memories consultants, one SLAH rep and myself. Many groups do have days where they set aside for everyone to showcase their home based biz or handcrafts, or fundraisers that are set up booth style that you could go to, and most groups are always looking for door prize donations to give out at each meeting.
