Hi all! I am just wondering what the range of hostess benefits is in the industry.

What is your standard hostess benefit for a show with no bookings?

What is the hostess benefit for a show with 2 bookings?

Does your hostess pay tax/shipping n her free merchandise?

Does your hostess pay tax/shipping on discounted merchandise?

For me, our standard benefit (no specials included) is 20% of theshow total in free product, plus one item at 1/2 price for each $100 in sales. Then on top of that, at each booking the original hostess gets $40 worth of product for 75% off.

Yes, my hostesses pay tax/shipping (10%) on free and discounted products.

Would love to know what all is out there!

What is your standard hostess benefit for a show with no bookings?

Well, with Usborne Books, the base hostess free product credit is about 10-20% depending on the level of sales. Hostesses receive 1/2 price items for each $100 in sales.

What is the hostess benefit for a show with 2 bookings?

With Usborne Books, we offer monthly hostess specials that often include a sales minimum and at least 2 booking requirement. Those are extra free or discounted hostess credits. Our hostesses also get to choose up to $25 in products for 75% off for each booking when it is held...and at the 3rd booking, they receive a bonus FREE item from their consultant (and that value is at the discretion of the consultant).

Does your hostess pay tax/shipping n her free merchandise?

With Usborne Books, our hostesses pay a hostess fee of $2.00, so that we do not have to pay tax based on the retail value of their free books. And hostesses do pay shipping (6%) on the retail value of their free items. *As a consultant, if my hostesses have a $500 show, then I pay these fees for them.

Does your hostess pay tax/shipping on discounted merchandise?

Yes, hostess pay tax based on the discounted value, and shipping on retail value. (books are heavy!)

Edited...removed info for Homemade Gourmet, as I'm new and still learning the hostess program. I'll let Lisa share that if she care too. :)

With Discovery Toys:

The hostess gets:

$100 party = $10
$200 = $30
$250 = $40
$300 = $50
and add $10 FREE for every $50 in sales. Not sure what the percent is.

So with a $500 party, the hostess gets $90
$1000 = $190

She does pay shipping and tax.

Then, when she gets a booking, she gets 1 -1/2 price item for every $200 in sales.

Plus they sometimes do a hostess gift with qualifying party.

During Sept, they can get between 40% to 50% more in free toys.

Oh my goodness, man where do I start? Hostess benefits is Petra's specialty. Ok, I'll just give a few examples:

Retail sales of $325 equals $110 Free Credit. Plus the Hostess can get the $325 bonus of an additional $40 in credit for only $7.95 giving her a total of $150 of merchandise for $7.95 plus taxes and handling.

My show average is over $500 so here's what most of my Hostesses end up with: $500 sales equals $145 Free Credit, plus the $40 bonus for having a party with sales over $325. Now, if she had say 15 buying guests she can get another $80 bonus for $15.90. This would give her a total of $225 worth of merchandise for $23.85 plus taxes and handling.

Now on top of that she would qualify for September's Hostess Special. That is when she has at least $200 sales, bookings and 8 orders she gets this. She can choose between either another $100 in merchandise credit or one of our Preferred Hostess Items (valued at $100) for only $19.95. So let's re-total. Now she has $325 worth of garments for only $43.80 plus taxes and handling!!!!! How much does that ROCK!!!

Ok, now for every booking she gets that holds she gets the following: 1st booking=50% off of any item in the book, including Preferred Garments.

2nd booking=$40 Free

3rd, 4th, 5th booking=$100 Free at each one.

These parties must all have at least $200 sales and bookings to qualify for the Free Merchandise, otherwise she can get another 50% item.

Our Hostesses get Free Merchandise wether there are bookings or not but Petra has made it so that it pays for them to encourage their friends to book. I've never seen another plan out there that gives so much. That is what keeps our datebooks full. There has to be plenty in it for them.

Take care and God Bless!!!

Ok I'll chip in here. With lia sophia Jewelry a hostess who has a qualifing show ($250 in sales) gets the following benifits:

20% of show sales in free jewelry from the entire catalogue, the ability to purchase 2 items at 1/2 price, and the ability to purchase 4 items at special hostess bonus prices. Bonus items are any peices from the catalogue. If the peice retails for under $100, then the bonus price is $15, if it retails for over $100 then the bonus price is listed with the item. I believe there are only 13 peices in the entire catalogue that are over $100!

The hostess can also purchase an additional 1/2 priced item from a show booked off of hers. If the hostess gets 10 orders and 2 bokings then she can double herfree jewelry from 20% to 40%for only $15!

Yes our hostesses do pay tax and shipping even on the free merchandise. I believe that is dictated by each individual state though. Our shipping is a flat $3.80.

I think lia sophia has a very generous hostess program.

Mary Kay's standard is 10-15-20.

A hostess automatically gets 10% of the total party sales in free product (ex-a $200 show, she gets $20 in free product).

If she gets 1 booking, then she gets 15% of the total party sales in free product.

If she gets 2 bookings, then she gets 20% in free product.

The company also has a "free hostess gift" that changes every quarter, and the hostess receives it for havinga party that's over $200. Last quarter it was Mary Kay sunglasses (black frames w/ pink lenses). Right now, its a free purse and matching lipstick case, next quarter it will be a pink and silver quartz bracelet. And every gift from each quarter matches-how cool is that! I actually got a pair of sunglasses, the purse, and the bracelet for myself. When I wear them, people ask me about them!

Just keep in mind that company has to be unique because of our unique product........

First, we're the only company that will do an in-home wine tasting at no cost. There are a couple of other companies that are "almost" like us, but they charge for the wine and some even charge a fee on top of that or have a minimum purchase requirement. We do not.

So, first and foremost, the wine we bring for the tasting is part of the hosting program. It's an up-front gift to the host and guests.

Second, no company who sells alcohol of any kind is allowed to give it away for free (due to responsability laws, codes, and ethics) so we can not offer "free credit". Therefore, the breakdown looks like this:

$250 to $499 in guest orders give the host/hostess choice of gifts from level one and a 10% discount on his/her personal order.

$500 to $749 in guest orders gives the host/hostess choice of gifts from level 2, a 15% discount on his/her personal order, free shipping, and this host/hostess can shop for up to 3 months receiving a 10% on accessories and free shipping.

$750 to $999 in guest orders gives the host/hostess choice of gifts from level 3, a 20% discount on his/her personal order, free shipping, and this host/hostess can shop for up to 6 months receiving a 10% on accessories and free shipping.

$1000+ in guest orders gives the host/hostess choice of gifts from level 4, a 25% discount on his/her personal order, free shipping, and this host/hostess can shop for up to 12 months receiving a 10% on accessories and free shipping.

Home Interiors and Gifts:

What is your standard hostess benefit for a show with no bookings?

The hostess receives 20% free merch credit.

What is the hostess benefit for a show with 2 bookings?

20% free credit PLUS a level 3 booking gift. Since we do own our own business, we can offer other incentives to get friends to book - one we use is "You plus two". This means that you booked and held your party, you get two friends to book and hold parties, and we pick something in the $20.00 range to give away OR we pick something in the $50.00 range telling the hostess she will pay around $10.00 for the item.

Does your hostess pay tax/shipping n her free merchandise?

Hostess does pay tax. For local delivery there is no shipping charges. However, if there is a party in another state and the shipment is direct shipped, there are shipping charges.

Does your hostess pay tax/shipping on discounted merchandise?

Same answer to above question.

Home & Garden Party's Hostesses qualify for Hostess Benefits when for $100 or morein Commissionable Sales.

What is the hostess benefit for a show with 2 bookings? Each booking gives the Hostess a $15 credit for that booking or she can turn in two bookings for a choice of 3 selected items that can only be gotten by earning them from bookings. There are no limits on how many booking items a Hostess can earn.

Does your hostess pay tax/shipping n her free merchandise? Yes, all applicable Sales Tax based on Hostess address and shipping are applied to all FREE earnings and discounted items.

In addition to the HGP benefits, I offer a free floral swag or arrangement to ALL my $500+ Prefered Hostesses and usually a pottery piece or favorite item from her list completely FREE (no shipping or tax).

Hey Mellonie,

You rock, what a great overview of our host rewards program. Very
well done. What is most impressive is that a majority of our
hosts really don't care about the rewards, they are in it for the
experiences.smileys/smiley32.gif But our program is very effective and my hosts do like it.

Especially the free shipping when ever they like to reorder. If
they reorder once a month that is a savings of $11.95 per order.
That even includes when she orders at a bookings that resulted from her
event, it is an added bonus becauce she automatically saves $11.95 at
her friends event. And there is no limit on how many times they
reorder! I have past host who do keep track of their free
shipping and will book again when it is about to lapse. They love
their Wine, the free tastings and free shipping!!smileys/smiley4.gif It is a win win for everyone.

Linen World's hostess program is AWESOME!:

We focus on number of orders with the "magic" number being 15.

You always get 10% of your shows total in free merchandise, PLUS with 15 orders you get to $100 worth of merchandise for $25.00, PLUS you can buy one blanket/throw and get another of equal or less value for $4.99, PLUS if someone books a show from yours you get to purchase 1 item at 40% off...if two people book, you get 2 items at 40% off..immediately....no waiting until the show is held.

Even if you don't get the 15 orders you still get 10% and 35% off one item and the blaket specialand booking incentives from above. Its nice because there is no pressure for a certain sales amount and bookings come very easily ( I had 5 at a show on Sunday ).

Premier Designs has a great plan!

$100.00 in sales is a quailified show.

You get 30% of the show total in free jewelry.

Earn $100.00 extra for the following:
$25 - holding show on scheduled date
$25 - $100.00 in outside sales
$25 - 10 guest in attendance
$25 - 3 bookings

You get 4 - 8 half-price orders. (the hostess 1/2 price orders adds on to the show total making the free jewelry amount go UP!)

My hostess last night had 12 guest and her show total was $640.00. She ended up with over $250. 00 in free jewelry and has not picked out her half-price items yet so her free total will go up!

My hostess does pay tax on her 1/2 price as well as her free jewelry. Shipping is only $4.00.

Well, for Partylite Hostesses you recieve,

For a $200.00 Show with no Bookings you recieve 15% of your show sales in free merchadise, 1 - 1/2 off item, and the Hostess Specials for that Month (Example, for the Month of October you can get the Infinite Reflections Candle Holder Reg.$69.99 Only $29.95 for Hostesses. And there are 2 more deals like that one, I won't go into those, if you want more info you can email me and I can send the Specials to you in pdf form) and there are 2 others that you can get 1 of each.

For a $200.00 show and 1 booking you get 25% in free product,

If you get 2 bookings you can recieve a Booking gift or take the $25.00 credit,

3 bookings a 3 level booking gift or $50.00 in Hostess credit,

or for 4 bookings you get the 4 level booking gift or you can take the $75.00 in hostess credit,

and with every $200.00 in sales you recieve1- 1/2 off item.

So a $400.00 show get 2 - 1/2 off items

$600.00 get 3 - 1/2 off items, etc.

The hostess does pay for shipping on her Hostess specials and free Merchadise. But it is all totaled together, so I thinks it's like $4.00.

It's kind of alot to take in, If this dosen't make sense or have any questions just email me, I will be happy to answer them.

There are no bookings needed to get extra hostess credit, as the hostess $$$ and gifts are quite generous already, but some demonstrators may offer incentives, like an additional item free with the hostesses items if she books parties. It really depends on the demo.

the things that are always the same though, and awesome are:

with a party of $150 they get a minimum of 25 dollars merchandise credit (idea book worth 10$ and 15 free to choose whatever they want from the book) and an additional exclusive hostess stamp set or scrapbook kit (these are valued at about 12.95 to $15 dollars or so)

So about $40 of goodies at the lowest level

then it goes up each tier and at $300 it jumps to about $65 worth of free goodies (a level two stamp set is worth more, maybe about 19.95 or so, and then the hostess dollars of $35and then a $10 idea book)

$500 up gets an exclusive hostess stamp set worth about $30, an idea book for $10, and catalog spending credit of $60

(so we're talking like $100 bucks...see why I like being a demo? he he...I get to host my own parties for myself from time to time!)

$750 and up party gets the $30 set (or two smaller sets) $10 catalog, spending credit of 100 dollars and then plus they get 15% additional of the amount of party that goes over that.

A big $700+ party that I hosted for my upline before I joined was one of the motivators that started me on my business. I think I got like 8 or 9 stamp sets FREEfrom that party.

Hostessing rocks!
