Ok, I am a big Ebay buyer but have never sold anything. So, I decide to sell some great stuff in my opinion. I was involved in a few direct sales companies and was going to sell "lots" of items. I wanted to start the bids at $.99 and set a reserve price. The problem is I cant find a place to set a reserve. Nothing is there where I set the starting bid. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Did you select "Reserve Auction" as the type? When you do, IIRC the option for setting it appears. Look carefully.

I suggest you don't set reserve price more than once. People will quit bidding, and many people (like me) avoid reserve auctions.

I buy a lot on Ebay anddislike reserve auctions myself. I prefer the Buy It Now option.

Are you useing the "new" sell your item form? If so there should be a little button right nest the the place where you list your price that allows you you set more options.

Oh and I suggest that if you are going to do a reserve auction for state what the reserve is. It keeps people from getting frustrated and going away.

I never understood what the point of a reserve was if you tell people what it is. Why not just set a minimum bid and move on? Inquiring minds want to know.

They tend to work quite well for HOT HOT big ticket items, where you have bidders falling all over each other.

It's somewhat of a psychological mind game...a seemingly high minimum bid may be a turn off but once your involved it's kill or be killed lol.

It's the same as big ticket items starting at .99 cents without a reserve...only this can turn disastrous for the seller if he/she doesn't know EXACTLY what they're doing. http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley17.gif

Yes, Dennis, I get that part of it. I have sold items for $10 in an auction frenzy that had other listings with a "Buy it Now" of $5.

What I don't get is why put the reserve price in the listing?

Don't quote me on this, but I believe you're allowed to sell to whoever gets closest at the end, even if it's not met.
