Any WAHMs herewho have contracting jobsdesigning websites? I'm thinking of getting intoweb design and I was wondering: When you get a project making a website, do you just leave it to the owner to update, or do they contact you whenever they need to change something on the site? How much background in web design are you expected to have before they hire you? How do they pay you? Through paypal, or something else?
Thanks so much!!
Thanks so much!!

Hello and welcome.smileys/smiley1.gif
As for updating client websites, whether or not I do it for them is up to them. I have a client for whom I do all updates because they don't know how to do it themselves and they'd just rather me do it for them. On the other hand, I designed a website for a lady who didn't need updates from me at all. So, really it's all up to the client. It should be part of your contract terms.
How much background in web design is required before being hired? I think it varies. I've seen people ask for at least 2 examples of previous work before being considered. I'm a member of a web designers message board and over there, they say I need at least 10 examples in my portfolio before I can be considered for the big jobs.
How you are paid is up to you, but you should choose a method that is accessible to all. Personally, I prefer Paypal.
Hope this helps!

Kermit...one of the most important things you might be overlooking is....where and how to market your service....You should think not as a web designer..but someone who is marketing a web design service!
Just my 2 cents

When you do the payments through paypal, do you use monthly charge. How much do you generally charge?
