Hi ladies! Can someone help me remember where to find the list of craft fairs/festivals in or near your town? I was signed up for 2 but just found out that I apparently waited too long for one (the bigger one) and can't get a spot now. smileys/smiley6.gif I'm bummed b/c I thought I could get a lot of business from that and get my name out there. Oh well, live and learn. But I'd love to try to get into some other festivals. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks!!!
Thanks!!!

I found many by just doing a general search for my area I put in Missouri 2005 crft shows and found LOTS of them listed - then I contacted LOTS of folks to get going - am actually doing one that started yesteday (Fri) and runs through Mon - many wont take someof my Biz since they are "mass produced" (home party sale Biz)and not "handmade" by me LOL but there are some that will!
Good Luck on your search

Try your city's Chamber of Commerce! Our city has a web site that has a calendar listing all the fairs, bridal shows, etc. going on.

I live in a rural town, and sometimes the best exposure events are just not advertised well until right before the event. It's not really a lack of advertising per se, but just that the event has been around for so long, people just know about it.
How I find craft fairs & exposure events:

The chamber of commerce

The local newspapers---in my town, and nearby towns

Freebie newspapers and pennysavers

Bulletin boards around town

The local radio stations

Local churches--for rummage sales, craft sales, fundraisers that they do

Schools...I watch their newsletters and ask my friends about upcoming "carnivals" and other family events

Any event that I happen upon that I didn't know about, I'll go to, ask who to contact about being a vendor the next year...then I file it in my planner to follow up at the appropriate time

I ASK...I network with other direct sales women and ask about events they do (some may not be for me, some I just might want to do); I ask my customers for referrals...and some will give me leads on charitable events or other exposure events
[/list]
Keep your eyes and ears open...you'll find plenty of exposure events.

Also network. When you know others, you can contact them and share info on events. I also get many calls from people who want me to participate because they met me at another show.

Great advice - Kasi. I, too, live in a rural area, and most of our events are not advertised - you just "luck" into them. So, if you are in this situation - you kind of have to do a little more "leg work" like Kasi mentioned, but I've found that the small events are the best!

Another thing is to ask around at the event. Some people only do fairs and have lists of what is coming up.
