Hey there everyone,
I am a LOOOOONG time lurker, first time poster coming out of hiding.
I will try to give you a short background of myself and if any of you are with a company that you think might be a good match for me, please let me know!
My family has owned tanning salons for several years and I used to manage the one we have here locally, until I decided that I wanted to spend more time with my daughter and pursue my art/craft.
Well, I found out real soon that I couldn't do my work from home (TOOO much mess!) so I use the space right next to our local salon, which I enjoy because I spend a lot of time over there chatting up with our clients. (Then I work on my projects later at night, while my daughter is at home with Daddy or at my Moms-plus I am more creative at night). Here's where my golden opportunity lies....I talk to anywhere from 115-245 women EACH DAY! (About 25 men too.) Now, let's say I have on a piece of jewelry for example and I get some compliments on it, I would love to be able to hand them a catalog and tell them to check it out, everything is fabulous....etc, etc...(and I get a little side money from it, of course).
My example was jewelry, but we talk about EVERYTHING of course, I could work almost anything into a good conversation. (Working with the public does that to you!)
I love Avon products, but everytime I have tried to find out more about selling it, they want you to talk with someone local and ask for a good time to call......well, the locals selling are kind of, well.....stand-offish (they can't even reccomend products well) and honestly the best time to call me is between 2am-3am--and even then I might have paint on my hands or some other chemical and I don't want to get it on my cell!http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley5.gif
I don't have time for parties, per se....but I talk to soo many people!
So, to sum it up......
No parties, reasonable start-up, easy to order for customers (online ordering would be great!), and I can start without having to have coffee with someone for 4 hours.
Gosh, this was a long post, I hope someone made it through all my ramblings and has an idea for me!
Blessings To All,
~Kris

Start with your passion. If you love arts and crafts, you'd probably enjoy BYB.
Power Pops is another good one, just because of the shock value. They are lollipops that help you lose weight and as for the talking, when I say "I just started selling lollipipops that help you lose weight." I get a lot of "oh! Tell me more".
My passion right now, though, is books and I sell Usborne. But definately go with the company that has something you personally want and are excited to talk about,

Hi Kris!
It sounds like Heritage Makers would be perfect for you! What we offer is a unique online publishing system that allows our clients to write and design their own books online, after which Heritage Makers will publish the book into an heirloom-quality hardbound book and drop-ship it to your client. Your job as a consultant would simply be to introduce people to the concept of storybooking and show them how to use the system. Opening a conversation is easy... simply show people a book that you've written yourself and see theri excitement! You'll be amazed at the positive reaction you get from anyone who sees these books. Everyone has a story to tell!
If this sounds interesting, I'd love to give you all the details. You'll find a lot of info on my web site, too. Send me a PM with your e-mail addy and I can tell you more. Also... we're hosting a no-obligation information call and webinar (so you can see the system demonstrated from the comfort of your own computer) tomorrow night for anyone interested in learning more about the Heritage Makers opportunity. Just give me a holler for the details. http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif

I do love the Power Pops! I have been thinking about them for awhile. I have been trying to figure out how to make sure the kids don't get into them. Lots of women bring their kids in while they tan and just sort of....let them go wild...so they can be a handful to watch. Is there a flyer about Power Pops available that I could have hanging up in the salon.
I think I had you send me a sample about Power Pops, and I LOVED it!
Thanks everyone for responding so quickly!

Hey, Kris!
Wow! I bet you will be good at whatever you do!
Have you ever considered Tupperware? I know, I know.....you're probably thinking....uggh! Tupperware parties....
But, honestly, you can sell Tupperware without being involved in parties. I focus mostly on internet sales through my site. I can do home parties....I just don't like the time away from my family that it takes to do them. I like to work on Tupper at night when my daughter is sleeping. (I actually work FT in the day.) I've got some catalog parties coming up.....both are half way across the country. I'd be glad to send you a catalog if you'd like to look over it.
If you'd like to give Tupperware a try, let me know. The smaller consultant kit is 69.99 right now, but you can actually earn it free by hosting a catalog party.
By the way, I also sell Avon. http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif

You should seriously look at Luxe Jewels. It is the best
of both worlds, selling pre-made pieces from a catalog or making your
own (late at night, when you are most creative!) and selling those too.
I will pm you with more information.

Hello Kris!
Wow, it sounds like Arbonne could possibly fit really well - I know I have heard of tanning salons that use the Arbonne tan lotions and also "sell" Arbonne in their salons.(actually, the products can't be sold off the shelves, but displayed, etc - more on that if you need to know or are interested). When you talk to THAT many people, woo hoo! Just using the product and having people comment on your skin can do it! You can pass out the samples of the skincare and follow up from there. You don't have to do parties, everything's ordered online, etc.! Well, if you think that could be something you'd be interested in, please email me! I don't want to be a pest!
Hope you find what's PERFECT for you! The best of luck to you!
P.S. I don't have an Arbonne personal website yet, but here is the main company website: www.arbonne.com

I sell Usborne Books. The great thing about it is that when on display people can't help but pick them up and love them :)
But your story reminded me of what a local tanning owner does in our area. She sells Beijo Purses and has this cute good size display right in the salon. It's a huge hit!
Definitely go with what you love and can easily talk about!

I figured I might as well throw this out there because several people I know that tan do it because they are going on vacation and don't want to look like Casper the Ghost on the beach.
What about a Travel opportunity? I am sure that a good portion of your customers get tans before they go on vacations so they don't look like they never get any sun.
Why do people tan? So it looks like they have been on vacation. Why not help those people actually achieve that. http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif

No one has mentioned Discovery Toys. Just wanted to add them to the list of possibilities.
You could have some of the toys available while moms are tanning and then just take orders that way or through the internet. No home shows required.

You might seriously want to think about skincare, makeup and spa products! I am with BeautiControl and that is what we have to offer--women spend a lot of money on skin care and beauty products. You do not have to have parties if you choose not to! But I can guarantee you that if those ladies try these products they will be sold. We have a promotion that is going on through the end of this month for $99 plus shipping and tax--you would receive over $430 worth of full sized products, sales aids and literature and a FREE day of training valued over $200. If you are interested I also have a website that I can send you. If you like Ford Mustang Convertibles, you would also have the opportunity to get one of those FREE with BeautiControl. I got my car after being in for 2 years--the trips you can get are so fun. I sure hope that you will seriously think about this--I am offering you something that can change your life as it has mine! You would have a free website and can do online orders. Hope to hear back from you!!Edited by: spabeautidream
