View Full Version : You Just Never Know!
The Wine Lady

I posted this down in the TTV folder but wanted to share it here with all of you.
I was pleasantly surprised last
night when an event I was sure would be a flop turned into fantastic!
I had to drive a great distance, bring my kids to stay with my parents
and stay over night.smileys/smiley29.gif
In speaking with the host yesterday morning she was not sure how many
she would have but assured me she would call everyone to get a good
turn out. When I called her, just before leaving my house she said she
was sure she had 10 (this included couples.)smileys/smiley11.gif
I think you can understand my trepidation as I drove the two hours to
my parents house. But they were thrilled to see the kids and my kids
have a ball at Nana and Pa's.
I did not have much time to think about what was happening. I had
dinner and got back in my minivan and headed out to WOW them. I got
there and noone was there.smileys/smiley19.gif
It was 7:20 and only 5 people (including the host and her husband) were
there. Finally at 7:30 (it was suppose to start at 7) the rest of her
guests showed up and we were off like a flock of turtles.
I was not in my best form to say the least but what a great
time. These people love wine! They really got into looking at each wine
and noting what they smelled and tasted. I kept it simple and they
chimed in with their questions, comments and observations. They loved
it. smileys/smiley20.gif
The Terres De Anges was the big hit of the night.I did not give the
price and everyone was guessing $14.99, I said no too much, well it has
to be $11.99, nooooo too much. They could not believe they could get
such a high quality French Merlot for only $8.99!! We also tried the
Lizards of Oz Shiraz, what a hit. Everyone liked the name, but more
importantly they loved the taste. This event was my first time trying
both of these wines so it was a treat for me too.
Overall it was a fantastic night! I ended up with great sales, two
bookings (closer to home)and as I was finishing up the night the
husband of the host asked for information on becoming a Consultant!!!
He is a firefighter and is looking for something to do on the side. I
also had another guest take information on becoming a Consultant. I
also have a few guests that will be contacting me for holiday gift
giving.....BY THE CASE!!!
I have said it so many times and I always remind myself...You just never know!!! </font>As
I was driving from my house to my parents house (2 hours in traffic) I
kept reminding myself of just that, otherwise I think I would have
turned around to go home. Never prejudge what can happen. MAKE IT
HAPPEN!! I am so glad I went. It was so much fun!!!
I just had to share my excitement. Now tonight I can walk in to my
tasting with a big smile and WOW them again (it is the third time for
this host and in my town, so the pressure is off.)
