I signed on last week. I have not received any of my pups yet.
Although I have been discussing this business with several others I
think would be interested. I have only 1 that seems interested. I want
so bad to make DM my first 2 months. I don't see any of this happening.
Did everyone else have a hard time getting started? I really thought I
would have no problem getting 4 people right off the bat. I hope I am
not wrong about this business.

Hi Deborah,

Do not get discouraged, you will get lots of NO'S before you get some yes's. People are afraid to come out of their comfort zone. Don't give up and talk to as many people as you can about your new home based biz. I did not use the pup to get started, I launched myself at home. I had 2 classes at my house back to back (fri and sun) I signed 6 people up, most of these ended up being wholesale buyers. But I exposed myself to these people and introduced them to the product. Hop this helpssmileys/smiley1.gif

100 No’s

It’s a one word answer. The word NO. Some people really have a tough time accepting the fact that they are going to hear the word NO fairly often. They get discouraged and feel rejected because they look at the word NO as a negative.

Nothing could be further from the truth. The word NO simply means that nothing changes. Think about it. You approach your neighbor and ask her to be a hostess, she say’s NO- what changed? Is she still your neighbor? Yes. Did your income go up or down? No. Nothing changed. It can’t be negative; to be negative, things would have had to get worse, and they didn’t. Everything remained exactly the same.

On the other hand, suppose she said YES. Now, there are some positive changes. She received FREE products (a positive). You gain several more customers, potential hostesses and distributors (another positive) and you earn more money ( another positive).

You can see by this example that there are no negatives in our business. There are only positives and times when nothing happens.

When someone tells you NO, cross out one of the NO’s at the bottom of this sheet. Set yourself a goal of getting all 100 NO’s crossed out within the next few hours (no kidding) If you want to se your business explode with growth, take this exercise seriously.

Here is a hint that will make this easier. Ask someone to:

Become a consultant. If they say NO, cross out NO and ask them to

Become a hostess. If they say NO, cross out a second NO and ask them to

Give a customer referral. If they say NO again, you already have three NO’s

You will never be better at getting NO’s than you are right now. The more you do this, the tougher it becomes to get those 100 NO’s. You will find that a YES will creep in there every once in a while. Don’t let the occasional YES distract you from your primary goal of getting those 100 NO’s.

Imagine the look on your neighbors face when she tells you NO and you respond, "Gee, thanks, I’ve only got a few more NO’s to go and I am finished for the day. I was afraid you were going to say YES there for a minute" Don’s take this exercise lightly…. It works! Get those NO’s now while it is still so easy for you to do so. Don’s wait until it becomes difficult for people to tell you NO. That time will come soon enough.

Nice encouragement from Julie... I did the same, book as many presentations as you can in your first 2 mths. I even had one cancel at 12pm today - of course I was bummed but made the lady re-schedule for next week (through gritted teeth).

Good luck, book those parties

Thanks for you replys. I am staying focused on the no's. I
enjoyed that. I will be having my first presentation on Thursday. I
hope to have 3 - 6 people attend. I will keep you posted on how this
goes. My first priority is To My Heavenly Father. I have asked Him to
be the Leader in my life. If this business takes off then He will
recieve all the Glory. I can do all things through Christ who gives me
strength.

I can tell you this, one of the most important thing we can develop
when first starting in business is a positive attitude. When we
first start we are get knocked around easily and lose the whole reason
why we went into business in the first place. Something else is
do not have overly high expectation for ourselves. What happens
when we don't reach those lofty goals? We quit, that is the
reason why most people jump for diet to diet because we were promised x
and received y. Remember Attitude and consistency will get us the
results we need out of our business!

I think John is looking to help us with our Network Marketing and in turn that will help him out as he is a business consultant for Network Marketers, right John?

so, tell me, how do I get my downline to be more outgoing when it comes to prospecting?

To be completely honest, I like ministering to the needs of other
whether they do business with me or not. I post in the forum
because I like it first and foremost. I have a vision to help
changed this industry by tell the truth and avoiding hype at all
costs. Then second reason, is to target those who want help in
building and marketing their business.

To answer your second question: How do I get my downline to be more
outgoing when it comes to prospecting? It NWM we commonly hear
the idea about the 80/20 rule. 20 percent will do 80 percent of
the work. In reality it is more like the 95/5. 5% will do
95% of the work. Therefore we can help out team by teaching them
on conference calls or other training material, but that will only have
marginal effect. What we need to do to get our team to take more
action in prospecting is simple; we need to set the example and sponsor
more people. The cream will rise to the top. What happens
is this your team will see you cranking out retailing and sponsorship,
then those who are serious about building a business will approach you
and once they do this we can start hold each other accountable to being
consistent in taking action. Does this makes sense?

cassandra

perfect sense! Thank you! Another question John: what's your advice for helping people get over the big "Fear of Rejection"? I know so many people who struggle with that! What would you suggest?

John TS Murphy
08-31-2005, 11:07 AM
Fear of Rejection? It depends on the individual, is it fear to take
action or is it fear to know what to say or is it not enough knowledge
to feel confident in front of a prospect? We need to figure out
what the basic issue is behind the fear that prevents that team member
from taking action.

cassandra

Hmmm, I'm thinking it's more a Fear of Failure which leads to not taking action. Perfectionist, has a hard time taking risks. She was doing absolutely great the first few months and now has completely shut down because she had a rough month and didn't meet her goals. I don't want to "give up" on her, but I think she is "giving up" on herself. I still see her as a gold ship, but she sees herself as an empty one, know what I mean? I really appreciate your advice John.smileys/smiley4.gif
