This is my first time posting here and I need some help. I joined BeautiControl in Jan. I had one Open House when I first joined I have done 1 party. I have moved since I joined and I am having a hard time getting people to have a party. I live about 1 1/2 hours from my family and I would drive there to do a party but no one wans to have one. I don't know anyone where I am living now. Does anyone have any ideas on something that I could do to try to get some bookings?I really want to do good at this and I know my husband wouldlike to see me do something with the business. I did make up little bags with information about what I do and gave them out at my mother's office but no one yet. Please help me.

How about going door-to-door in your neighborhood with your little bags that you made up and just introduce yourself... ?? You might even slip in a coupon for 10% off or something like that .... just a thought... whatever you do... don't give up!!!

I am in your shoes as well. I can't get friends of family to have Spa's....I have went to local apartments and asked to put fliers in their move in packets or product guides because I bought a lot when I started. They have recently called me to donate something for their resident party in which I brought a couple of things and did 8 "look to book" envelopes. The staff there said they had a couple of people wanting to contact me! GREAT! I'll give them something if they do. If you butter them up.... they'll talk about you. When I went in there I found that one of the leasing consultants used to sell BC along time ago!

Another thing I've done is bought the book "Build it Big" It's actually very helpful. I don't know if you are like me in anyway, but I HATE calling people on the phone! HATE IT! I stepped out of my boundary and tried it the other day and the lady was like "I'M BUSY, I'LL CALL YOU BACK!" EEEEEEKKKKKKKKKKK OK!!! Well she didn't call me back and now I'm afraid to call her again LOL, but this book tells you how to say things when you call people and gives great information on getting bookings etc.

Another thing that I recently did was participated in a holiday party at another community. They had all sorts of home businesses there and had about 50 people for a turnout. It went well. I did the show of hands.

I've recently started putting stuff on myspace as well. It's fun to advertise there.

You are welcome to email me if you need support or want to bounce ideas back and forth!

Good Luck and don't get discouraged!

I'm almost in the same shoes. I signed up in October and STILL have not had my first Spa. I stay motivated by going to my unit mtgs. but still feel WAY behind the others. I live ina small town and there are already several consultants here. Everyone I have tried to get to hold a spa say they will but never give me an exact date. I am hoping things look up after Christmas. I know everyone else is probably like me and out of time and money this time of year. I am just staying with it, trying to be persistent and positivesmileys/smiley17.gif I like the my space idea. I have a page and this weekend I'll try to add Beauticontrol to it. Do you know if there are any wallpapers or graphics that can be used? Darlene

Well at least I'm not the only one!!! I totally persuaded my boyfriend that investing into BC would be money well spent & still, no shows and I signed up in September! I won't give up though, I love BC and I believe I will find other women who do as well!

Ladies, start thinking outside the box! I know MizDaySpa did and she finally had some sales from her persistence and enthusiasm! Don't give up

Have you invited your friends over for a casual spa treatment? I did this last year right before the holidays as a girl's night out. We all soaked our feet, wore neckwraps, etc., while listening to some calming music. I joined in so it wasn't a formal party. In fact, I fell asleep during the breathing exercises!

I did get 5 parties booked just by hosting a relaxing GNO. I also had one in September when I wanted to try a new script. A great way to spend times with friends and get new business!

I wish you all success in the coming months!

I think the one thing to remember is although we may not be getting spa's right now, we are getting great discounts on products we can use ourselves! This is truely a great company! The Spa's will come.... email me at nabbymn@yahoo.com and we can support each other in times like these!

Hang in there! I've been at other companies, don't give up on this one!

Hey ladies,

I ran out of my friends and family quick. But if you have children that is the perfect way to go. Get to know some of the parents. Invite them to your house and let the kids come (if they are girls) and have a mother daughter spa! I got alot of bookings that way, and it was fun. Join a mom group, or a church group. I have even taken a part time job just to get to know some people. I hate going cold calling to businesses but if I am needing a booking I do that also. Banks love you! Make up a flyer and pass it out in your neighborhood, invite them to your house to Spa them! I have done all these things and it has help alot. I hope this can help!!!

OK So I posted that semi-negative post above... then I got this email
from my director about the challenge this month. She put me on a team!
So I wrote her back and said I really can't do it, I have no clients
and I don't want to bring my team down. She wrote me back and said she
really wanted me to participate and that next week she has a Spa near
me that she wants me to go to, watch her for some ideas, help her out,
and then whatever spas she books she will split with me! WOO! So I
wrote her back and was like ok ok I'll find a way to do the challenge.
Well the challenge was to contact 4 people, wish them happy holidays,
ask if they needed any orders placed, reorders, wish them a happy new
year. Simple enough, if you have clients. I have a myspace page with
over 100 friends and some of them are just friends from years ago that
I hardly talk to but found my page and added me as a friend. So I went
thru and picked 12 girls that I thought would be interested and I sent
them all a private message (the same one) saying that I hope they're
enjoying the holiday season. Said that I'm getting ready to place a
holiday order (which is true) and I wanted to extend the offer to them
offering them a 15% discount on their order and free holiday shipping.
I also added that for the holidays they can pamper their friends and
family for an hour in their home for free. I basically worded it real
cute and ended it with to please not forget about themselves this
holiday season. And that no matter how busy I get, I still take time
out for my skin, and make sure I have happy hands and feet in the cold
weather! On the bottom I put my webpage and email and phone and all
that good stuff. Even if none of them respond........what an
accomplishment!!! Really "crewsw" ... try to be as creative as
possible. I also thought about hanging up flyers at my workplace and
titling them "Ladies Night...IN???" and a little description of a spa.
Been trying to make one but running out of ideas. And since you moved,
try to find a director in your area that has team meetings. I'm sure
ladies there are full of ideas and the directors are always able to
lend some help, just as mine is doing! It feels so great to feel
active, even if I have no parties booked and no orders to fill. It's a
relief to know I'm trying and even stepping out of my box a little.

I do stay motivated and I have taken advantage of the discounts to build a small but usable inventory. Also, to buy Christmas giftssmileys/smiley1.gif My director is also starting a motivational type program and I joined. It starts the end of December and I am really looking forward to it. My director is wonderful and keeps telling me to stay with and things will start moving soon.

Sometimes it is hard to stay motivated. I don't know how many times I
have whined to Vickie or Krista about not getting any bookings and
then, lo and behold, I make a sale, add a recruit to my team or someone
calls asking for a spa!

The best advice I can give is be coachable and willing to look at every
experience as a learning opportunity. I joined BC last April. I had a
few spas with friends and co-workers, but since I am a school teacher I
didn't really see my business get busy until summertime. I called
people everyday. I wrote down what I wanted to say and I began to work
out of my circle of friends, family and co-workers. I challenged myself
to talk to at least one person I didn't know about BC. Whether or not
it led to anything, I celebrated that success because it isn't my
nature to strike up conversations with strangers in the first place. I
had a lot of spas on the books, but they didn't always lead to
bookings, sales or recruits. Some did after awhile and I was at VIP
status by August.

When school began again, business dropped way off again. I had Maybe
one or two spas and some months zilch, but what kept me motivated was
going to the unit meetings, listening to conference calls and chatting
with the ladies from this board. I did recruit and learned how to
qualify the order, so that was a new learning experience. I just had a
corporate spa for a business that I talked to back in the summer that
wasn't interested then, but called me for a holiday function. I sold
$300 in product and booked one spa so far from it.

Part of this business is finding success in the littlest things,
whether it is willing yourself to make those phone calls on a certain
night of the week, calling businesses, etc. Really align yourself with
your upline. They didn't get to where they are by luck. It took great
skill and practice and they have a lot of wisdom to impart to you!

Hope this helps!

We all get frustrated when things do not happen as fast as you want them to. I have been in business almost 4 years and haven't accomplished my goal of becoming a Director. That could be a show stopper for some, but not me. When that day comes, it will be the sweetest reward of them all! Right now, I am learning how to be a good leader by soaking up all of the training I can get!

Set some goals for yourselves and please do not shy away from challenges! You never know what your potential is until you accept what is out there for you! Do I achieve everyone my Director gives me? NO. But she knows I will be the first one to accept it and give it my all.

Wording for recruiting and booking parties is crucial! Write down what you want to say and practice it. Make it an invitation rather than an obligation. Romance the idea of relaxing. Most women really do not have the time to do so. (That's me right now! I could use a spa!) We are just too busy to slow down, especially at this time of year.

It's ok to voice your frustration! We all have them. Just watch the negativity. It breeds more negativity. I know we all do a great job keeping our board positive. And it is nice to come on here and see so many wonderful consultants truly supporting one another.

I believe each and every one ofyou can and will make great things happen in coming year!

luvbeauti
12-10-2006, 02:56 PM
I don't think someone asking for help is a "negetive" post. It was just someone (and obviously a few others) asking what they should do.

Hey, we've all been there! I still struggle with 2+2+2. But I won't give up! We all know that sometimes all it takes is that 1 great spa and you're back in business.

This is also a busy time of year for everyone and I am trying like crazy to get my Jan. calendar full!

There should be lots of Bridal Fairs coming up in the next month or 2 and also some spring craft shows. I highly recommend doing a booth with a giveaway and collect leads, go from there.

Just don't give up!

12-10-2006, 03:44 PM
I never said asking for help was a negative! Sorry if you took what I said to mean that it was. There has been some negativity on the board in the past where people left and feelings were hurt. In fact, I think I am one of the few who is still left who is still willing to help.

And yes, I am willing to help anyone who wants it!

Reminders to keep negativity at a minimum is not a bad thing. It doesn't mean you can't ask for advice or help. I do not enjoy coming to a board where there is nothing good being said. That is why I said we do a good job of keeping it down.

serenespa

Bridal Fairs - thanks for that reminder Lisa!! So, tell me what your approach is .. or, how do you get involved with those?? I'd love to hear!!

I'd love to hear about Bridal Fairs as well. I did a holiday party last month and I received an email today from a girl who couldn't use "ANYTHING" because she breaks out..... well she's ordered 2 SOH today and wants to book a SPA in January. I can't believe the excitement I felt! Definately helps the motivation! :)

I apologize if I came across as being negative. It's easy to feel discouraged when people just don't see how GREAT of a company this is and I look here for the little kick in the pants that I need once in a while. So THANKS!

luvbeauti
12-11-2006, 08:26 AM
You don't have to apologize! You did nothing wrong by asking for help!

As far as bridal fairs, I participated in one at our local Mall. Just go to the mall office and ask the marketing director if they are planning on having one this year. Then tell them you are interested in a vendor table. If someone else from BC did the previous year, they are usually invited back the next year. Just ask! Also larger hotels sometimes do Bridal Fairs also. Most are held Jan-Feb-March and sometimes in the fall.

That is great about the one who wants a Spa in January! I have a few people who want one in Jan and you can bet I'll be on the phone tonight to set dates!

Sometimes even booking a party from another company will give you great ideas also! I went to one this weekend and the lady was VERY firm with her calendar! She was awesome! She handed one girl who was booking a guest list paper and told her, "if I don't get this back in 5 days, either by email or reg. mail, I will assume that you will not have the party" The girl told her she didn't do guest lists and would just call them, and the lady said "if I don't get a guest list, your party won't hold". We all know how true that is!

Her Jan is full and she had no weekend dates available. Now I am a believer of if you look busy, they will book.

Sometimes even when we hear things over and over, it just takes that one other person to say it and things start clicking!

I'm really glad that I posted here. Everyone has given me some great ideas. Now I need to get it all together and decide what I need to do. I am really going to work very hard to get some SPA's booked for Jan. Thank you very much.

Hey ladies, I too am more than happy to help with any ideas and suggestions. I have been at this for 9 months and am thrilled. I too was a little afraid of "who can I call" and who feels like I am bothering them. I had to snap out of it. I work with a life coach and have been amazed at what "I" can accomplish if I just step out of the comfort zone.I wear an imaginary name badge everywhere I go( I know that sounds hoaky-it is about the visualization) and my name tag says Professional Spa Director(I am currently VIP close to UM) but my vison is Director. I set high goals for myself also. I recently purchased a $42,000 vehicle. I set my goal, I reached out for what I wanted and I went after it. I do not let anything get me down. I was not that way in the begininning. Every no I got tore me down. I had to learn to go beyond the no and keep looking for the yes. It will come, probably when you least expect it. The money will come too. I am amazed at the success I am having in such a short time. As I look to the future I see such wonderful things for my business. Some ideas I have tried that have worked are the following:

I agree about talking to your kids friends. During spring break my 7 year old daughter had a slumber party. When the mom's picked up their daughters I handed them all a sample, catalog and asked for a booking.

I go tothe local business's with business questions, no matter how small. An example is going to the printing/office supply store. I do not need anything, but I will go in and ask for 5 copies of something related to BC. Typically the person behind the counter looks at what you are printing. Also, gift shops are great. I go in to buy candles or candies and tell the cashier "these are going to be so cute for my next Spa" That always prompts a question. I am not being pushy or stalkish, I just stated the facts!

Look in your towns paper for any activity where you can set up a booth. Look in the towns next to you too.And the ones next to them. Look for fairs, church bizaars, fundraisers you name it, anything where you can set up. You never know where that one person is that can make your business explode!

Teachers love BC. Take a SOH to the secretary and ask her to put it in the lounge. If the SOH is too much of an investment, put together a basket with minis, and have her keep it in there with your catalog.

Join a MOPS (mothers of preschoolers) group, look for girl scout goups, they are always looking for something different to do. They can do mother daughter spas. I did one of these within the first month of my signing up and I am still booking Spa's from that one!

I soo oooo agree about your calender. Keep it full and let the ladies who book know that you are busy. I send a letter out immedialely when someone books and it lets them know that I appreciate their taking my business serious, as this is part of my families income. I very rarely have cancelations. I too request a guest list. I send out the invites for them. I always do postcard size, as it is more affordable. Some will pay for postage and some i do not bother with. I can not stress how important it is to do this for them. Make sure they feel as though you are helping them out so they see it that way. At the start I left it up to the hostess and too many times I found myself with cancellations or very low shows.

Take care of your hostess and your new clients. No matter what, always present yourself and your product in a professional manner. I always wrap each item in tissue paper, whether it is a $60.00 product or a $10.00 product. Make all of your clients feel special. Include coupons for future orders in their bags. Many will take advantage of extra savings.

Call your clients after they have received their products. Many will start using the items right away and they want to know that you are there for them, that this was not just a quick sale. All of my clients know how to get in touch with me and know that I will contact them on a regular basis, whether it is to see if they need something or to just check in on them. When they run low, many women do not think far enough ahead to place an order, so they appreciate the fact that you have taken that worry away from them. And it does not matter if you have 100 or 1 clients, take care of them all. If you find that it is too time consuming, then you have entered the wrong business, as this is a service that we provide and it does not stop at the door when you leave

Your appearance is so important. I am not saying go out and buy a new wardrobe. i am saying use your products. Always leave your house looking the best you can. I still take the kids to school in my comfy clothes, but by golly I have my hair doneand lipstick on! You never know who you will run into at that school and if they know you are in the business of making women relax and have wonderful skin, then they want to see you presented that way! Would you let a dentist with bad teeth fix your pearly whites?

Advertise yourself, whether you wear a SPA shirt to the store or you invest in a car magnet. Use your Pro pay debit card when making purchases. Use BC logo pens when writing checks. the whole idea is to peak an interest so the other person asks you a question. Imagine walking thru Sams Club with a Spa shirt on, preferably the one that has the writing on the back about scheduling your SPA Escape. How many women are you going to pass by and how many will be walking behind you? Find ways to peak interest.

Attend unit meetings and any other type of networking meetings you can. You will come away inspired and ready to SPA!

Try to hang out with people who influence you as opposed to those who do not support your business. My director and I have become wonderful friends and I am making other friends who too are in DS. These are the people who "get it".

I hope some of these ideas are helpful to you. Just do not give up. I am working my business all the time, whether it is physical or mental, I am always working! And I enjoy it, that is by far the most important advise I can give you, Enjoy what you are doing!

Christy--

Great ideas!! I found a girl scout group in my area but I'm
wondering... what exactly do you say to get them interested in
participating? Do you donate any of the profit to them and if so, how
much is enough and how much is too much? I've been using BC for years
but I'm just turning it into my business. Very exciting but kind of
difficult to take those first few steps!

As far as car magnets, Denise on this site has a great set that have Coco the Spa girl. I really wanted that one, but had to work it into my budget. i went to a local print shop and just had one made to fit the back of my new vehicle. It is more of a square and has my info on it. I paid $35.00 for it, it is simple, no flashy colors. When I get up there in the business a little more i will proably get the ones Denise offers, they are very catchy!

I had a freind who was a girl scout leader and she called me and asked if I would be interested in doing there Mother daughter spa night, it was a party they had planned to celebrate the end of cookie sales. I was pretty new at BC and thought it would be a good experience. Little did I know that there would be 35 of them! They also had scrapbooking in another room and a real massage therapist in yet another. So I set 10 chairs out and had them rotate between me and the other activities. Not one of the moms had heard of BC so they were all pretty excited. That was last March and I have had such success with that one spa. A lady who bought two bottles of HSFC also booked a SPA, She was the only one who actually bought anything, so at the time I was a little disappointed. But I am so glad I looked beyond the $ part of it. Two of the ladies who booked have since canceled and have not R/S yet, but one who booked and canceled and fianlly did hold had an excellent spa, as a matter of fact at her SPA 4 people signed up and went to BeautiU last month. I got to go with them as an auditor so that was nice( I actually had 8 recruits at the one training!) Three of them want to be buyers and one is starting to see that she couls make some great $ if she just supplied her fellow school teachers!

I would just ask about any groups such as these and then offer a % donated back. I agreed to do 20% of the sales from any Spa's that booked from that night within the next 30 days, -you will want to keep it close to that date, I have alos done this with a couple of other groups, but I always do 20% for SPA's booked and held within 30 days. If anyone books at any of those SPA's I personally donate $10.00 on top of the 20%. It sounds like a lot, but it isn't if you have great shows and bookings!

I also have been donating items to fundraisers and such, and with each item I wrap up I include a $20.00 gift certificate that is "redeemable at their next SPA Escape". Most women think they are just getting $20.00 so when most women call to order their item I remiond them that they can redeem it at their SPA, which opens up more dorrs. I explain how simple it is to host a SPA and how much fun it will be! I just had a lady call me and want to book for Friday night!

So look for organizations you can donate something too. I like to buy things that are on major clearance and put that in there, then it does not cost me a lot, but is still a nice donation. Perfect example is the Lavender line. I bought a ton of it, so I would put it in with a candle or ornament or tea bag with a mug, some I sat on a pretty plate, the I cello wrap it and add ribbons along with that gift card. Do not spend alot, I went to Family Dollar and bought last years clearnace, most itmes were a quarter. Just keep in mind the whole idea is to get something in their hand ,with your name and info, that will peak an interest to call you!

I am sure most of you remember the all day crop I had told you about on a past post. I was there 13 hours and didmini spa in the phone booth. I sold $60.00 and booked 2. I also had them fill out info cards. I have since followed up on the leads and have booked another 3, so ladies it can be done!
Get up today and put that badge on, whether it says Director, Sexy Spa Diva, Woman in charge, or what ever you wnat it to say. No one knows it is there but you! Put on something nice and go out with your chin up, feel onfident, when you feel confident you look confident. Let others see you as the person you are sriving to be, do not act sheepish or shy about what you do. If someone asks you a question about your business take charge of the conversation, after all you are the professional! Women want what we have! We just have to show them that they want it! I have never left a SPA and had anyone say "that was terrible. I can not believe I spent my evening doing this!" I typically hear, who is doing this next and they start filling in my calender!

So go get em ladies!!!!!!! Geesh I am starting to sound like a director!

I had the moms and daughters give each other hand massages and apply each others foot creme. I also did the eye pads(the little girls loved them-some wanted to take them home!) I did no skincare, but explained to the moms that we have a great skincare line and that I love to do facials at the Spa Escapes that are for moms only! I also did the lip apeel, another hit with the girls. I have actually done two of these type of Spa's and both have been a success. They are a little difficult with the young girls being noisy, harder to get them to relax and be quiet, but it intrigues the mom's to host their own so they can experience the whole thing. I would highly reccomend these type of Spa's !

Wow Christy - I'm INSPIRED!!!!!!!!! Ok.... I'll start with 2 questions...

1) Where can I get the Spa Escape shirt?

2) What do you displayonthe table at a bridal fair? (and is it for people to try/sample?)

I have tons more questions!!! I'll be back!! smileys/smiley36.gif

You are too funny! I will try to anwer the first two before you come back!

I got my shirts, ( I have several) from Ebay. I know Ebay is a bad word when it comes to BC, but I do buy shirts on there. I have some that say Spa Diva, Stress, and SPA. I wear them all the time. I also bought a BC Denim jacket that has the BC logo on it. Another great place is when you go to Celebration and Leadership. Women usually are ready to sell the shirts they have made for their unit that is attending, so if you go to one of those funtions ask around when you see one you like!

As far as bridal tables, I persoanlly have not done a Bridal Fair, and am questioning the cost to set up at them. I would have to really sell a lot and book a lot to recoup my expenses. I ahve checked into a couple and they are anywhere from $100.00 to $500.00! I am a cheapy, I like to pay no more than $25.00! I have however talked to the lady chairing one of the fairs and she is going to let business owners put a flyer in each of the brides goody bags for $25.00, so I may do that. I am thinking of focusing on the Body Glue, that stuff is awsome! And it is pefect for brides and others in the wedding. i am also working on Facial Spa's at my home(another post at a later time) But I think that would be perfect for the bride and her mother or bridesmaids. I would not sell inventory. I typically do not sell at fairs of any kind, I like to demo, I feel as though that draws more people to you, they are curious. I did sell last weekend, but only because it was a Christmas Open House and I have a few things left that I am trying to sell and the cost was only $15.00.

Okay, I will watch for more questions!

hehee, I'm back!!! Ok, thanks for those answers! I'm cheap too and won't be paying $100 or more for a table/booth!! Not unless there were going to be hundreds of thousands of brides-to-be there!! LOL

Ok and as far as e-Bay is concerned.... I'll be browsing for Spa shirts there!! Thanks for that tip!

Body Glue - so this is for women going braless and strapless to helpkeep their dress/gown from falling down, right?? (hehee, this is something I've never had to worry about in my life - arrghh!) I would probablypaintmy entirebody with the body glueto tryand keep the 'jiggles' to a minimum!! smileys/smiley36.gif smileys/smiley36.gifsmileys/smiley36.gif Ok .. ok ... whew ...

Girl Scout groups. Do you just call local schools to get in touch with them?

Donating gifts. Can you give me an example of what type of business, for instance, you found that was looking for donations?

Fundraisers and donating items. How does this work? I mean I guess I'm confused... do you just call someone that is having a fundraiser and ask to donate a gift .. and is that gift supposed to go to, say, the person who sold the most in the fundraiser or what??

Ok...... my brain is about to explode!! smileys/smiley11.gifYours will be too by the time I'm done with questions, but I really appreciate this!!!! smileys/smiley1.gif

Well I will try to answer some of these questions without having another dumb blonde moment:

I heard on the radio a segment that was about helping other's it is always on Fridays. Anyway, there was a person who was looking for donations for a fundraiser for his nieces and nephews. His brother was killed in an accident. I called the number to donate a basket. In our paper, they advertise fundraisers and those looking for donations. I call them and check them out before donating.

Schools have fundraisers too. Julia's school has one every year to help raise money to keep our costs to a minimum. Last year, I donated a Margarita basket. It had the full line of Margarita, Margarita Mix, Tortilla Soup, Tositos, Salsa and lime candles. It sold for 2X what it retailed for. There was quite a fight for that basket!

Phyllis, I can send you the picture of it.

I have done a Luxuries of the Sea basket fora Longeberger Breast Cancer Awareness fundraiser too.

Body Glue is great for brides! It helps hold the strapless dress in place. Great for bikinis too. Haven't worn one of those in a long time though. I use it for bra straps.

Thanks Vicki! I will have to start looking through our local newspapers and browsing local events online! I'd love to see the picture!

And, I guess I'm going to have to order some Body Glue now!! How is it to wash off? And, does it wash out of clothing easily? I'm sure it does otherwise, BC wouldn't have it!!

Okay Phyllis, I am back to anser more!

I have donated to the following:Baskets to Relay for Life, Baskets to out local chrity Auction for needy families in the community, basket to crop event, donate 205 of sales to local cheerleaders, local girl scouts, et. Look for organizations that are doing auctions, such as silent auctions, but make sure you put in something nice, it needs to look impressive!

Yes, contact the school system for the local Girls Scout leader and give her the pitch, offer the Mother/daughter Spa and 20% from the sales.

Body Glue keeps my bra straps in place and also fixes those gapping buttons on blouses. I carry it in my purse and talk about it to everyone, typically people ask if they can try it. It washes right off. I have also been told it can be put on the behind to keep underwear and swimsuits from riding up, I have not tried that yet!

I agree on impressive items to make your basket attractive to bidders! Luxuries of the Sea is a good one for that. I put sea shells and a loofa in the last one I did. Looked great, but I forgot to take a picture of it. It was tied with rafia in a bow. I have to remember to take more pictures of what I do!

I have donated baskets to my school carnival. I have put drawing boxes
at nail spas, salons and boutiques. Another consultant and I did a
booth together (to defray costs of the booth rental) for a weekly
women's event sponsored by a local radio station. The radio station
really cut us a deal. We got three different days plus we were plugged
on the radio! We just split the leads up. Two of those times the other
consultant didn't even show up, even though she paid half. I
ended up getting to know the radio people and got a corp. spa with them
after it was all said and done.

I have talked to several girl scout troops too. I haven't been able to
get one set up yet because our schedules conflict, but I keep in touch
with them, in case something works out. Many do their meetings right
after school and I am not able to leave work for it. However, girl
scout troops love this sort of thing and there are also patches the
girls can earn. There is a patch about having good hygiene and also one
about leading a stress-free life. They are also very interested in any
fundraising opportunities they can get.

My mom just had a spa in which we donated 20% to breast cancer research. One of the guests was a breast cancer survivor.

Lately, I have been trying to find a natural way to break the ice with
my neighbors. Many of them are new to the neighborhood, so I thought I
would bake some goodies for the holidays and add a few beauticontrol
treats as well. I also just volunteered to be on the homeowner's
association board to get out and about in my community. There are tons
of moms in my neighborhood!

Just start thinking about all of the places you visit on a regular
basis. The grocery store, Walmart, favorite restaurant or bookstore.
Even your bank or insurance agency is a possibility!
