Come up with a domain name and register it. I recommend godaddy.com as it comes to mind. They're really cheap and you can get hosting included. We're talking less than 10 bucks a month.

Just go to: http://www.godaddy.com

You can check for available domain names, etc. This site is really good for beginners.

I think they even have premade templates you can use for free if you don't know how to design a website.

Once you've got your domain name registered and hosting... the next thing that you're going to want to do is get your articles on your website. You'll do this by using an html editor or something that godaddy.com has included in your account in order to allow you to publish your works to the web.

One step at a time. Let me know if you need more help and explanation. PM me if you like. Happy to help and walk you through step by step.

Yes, you got it right:

(1) Register a domain name
(2) Sign up with a web hosting provider

I have a coupon code you can use at Godaddy, if you want to save on your domain registration fees.

Also, I'll give you 50% OFF </span>(to help out a WAHM)
our current prices at DealHostUSA</span> (http://www.dealhostusa.com). Just let me know if you're interested and mention "WAHM.com" when you contact us so we can give you your 50% off pricing. Thanks!

Hi Nicole,
If you are wanting a site to post content on daily you may want to consider hosting your own blog and using a platform such as WordPress. A blog is perfect for a content type of site and WordPress would give you the most options if hosted on your own domain. I have two blogs on Blogger, but wish I had known better initially, so I may end up moving them to WordPress after the new year.

Blogs are also highly favored in search engines because they generally have lots of content. HTH!

Yes, you can earn by writing. Some pay little and others pay more. Some can pay alot if you put some time and effort in. There's a pretty decent list of websites in swagen's Honest Income Program book. All are free except for one. After writing a few articles at the lowest paying sites, or even just one at any of the higher paying sites if it's accepted, that will have paid for his book right there. If writing is your thing you will have a ball.

I decided to go with godaddy for the domain name, so i got the free hosting... here's my problem

I have zero dollars for this right now, and their site builder charges a fee per month (which confuses me because I just want to build my sight once, not once per month..lol)

I don't have frontpage or anything, but i noticed ms word has a wizard for websites....but it's so confusing, and then how do i get it from my computer to godaddy?

pleeeeeeeeese help! smileys/smiley4.gif thanks so much!!

Because of the code it inserts, I would recommend not using MS Word for a website.

How about a free html editor? These are all free:

Hello,

1. you have no knowledge of html.

2. you have no money to start.

You are at a huge disadvantage from anyone.

Do you have any marketing or business experience? It okay if you don't :)

I have 2 ideas for you. First, you can start a FREE blogger blog. Do you know what a blog is? It is an online journal. People say blogger sucks but I disagree and it is great for beginers. They give you the site ready for you. It actually does not belong to you and you have to store all your content on your hardrive so you know its safe. The content is the important part. All you need to do is allow your content to become public. To post your content all you have to do is log into www.blogger.com (http://www.blogger.com)type in the nickname you choose and password. Click on the blog you created and press the"Create new post" button. Everything else is done for you just write your content in.

You can change the template to have whatever you want in it. If you need help, I would be glad to help you do it free of charge! I like starting them (working on them and writing content is my problem). In any case, the blog is yours, you can go in every day to write posts, and you can add advertisments for money! Just choose a topic you love writing about and write.

The advertisements you need to get yourself. They are found everywhgere. PPC (pay-per-click) is a great form of advertising that defines itself. Everytime someone clicks on it, youget 5 cents or more. Google offer "adsense" that can be added to your blogger blog automatically by clicking the "Adsense" button in the template area.

You will want to add more advertisements also as you learn more. The most important part is the content. Another important part is link building but you will have to do your own research for that.

Thats all there is to it!

The second way you can start your site is by first doing some freelance writing work at www.elance.com (http://www.elance.com) or www.scriptlance.com (http://www.scriptlance.com). you will be able to easily earn enough money to pay for a website domain and hosting!

If this was oversimplified I apoligize I was just offering a simple overview of instructions to start a blog.

thanks,

Godaddy's free website builder isthe most awful mess of nothing I ever tried to figure out in my life....and all I wanted to do was put up a page for websites that only neededcontact info or a picture of my sister's dog.

Get a freebie blog for now like georgec recommended so you can focus on other aspects of writing and working online.

I highly recommend not </span>using GoDaddy. I myself have had a horrible experience with them and most of my clients have too. In my case they kept charging my credit card for $4.00 every month after repeatedly calling about it I had to finally close my bank account and reopen. The GoDaddy representatives couldn't even tell me what it was for! Anyways I have hosting and domain names registered with another wahm who is wonderful. The website is www.thedesignshoppe.com. Hope that helps!

Thank you floconner, I agree that I had a good idea!

If you have any questions about what I talked about please send me a message. I got my brother into blogging a few days ago. I created this blog for him: http://braintheory.blogspot.com. Check it out and let me know if you want something like that. I also just remade my blog for a gambling site I stopped working on. I changed the color and everything, it was fun.

thanks,

I use Yahoo website Builder. Its free. They have free pre-made templates, or you can make your own from scratch. And you don't need to know any HTML.

You can find all website designing methods at W3school.com. It is a free tutorial. It may help you.

Try freewebs.com. Hosting and templates are totally free unless you want to upgrade. You can upload your own graphics too. You can either use HTML or WYSIWYG. I don't use freewebs.com, but I've checked it out and it's pretty neat, especially for a free site. If you don't know HTML, you would be better off going with a package such as this. Also, try bravenet.com. It's free too. Iwouldn't spend money on hostinguntil I got more familiar with creating websites if I were you. Just my opinion. Hope I've helped justa little. Good luck with your decision. BTW, once you get your site, there are all sorts of online HTML tutorials that would be of great help to you. PM me any time and I will be happy to help if I can.smileys/smiley1.gif Edited by: CindysBiz

If you have a Gmailaccount, you can request Google pages account here: http://pages.google.com/

You might be limited in the number of pages you can create, but it's another free way to learn how to create pages without a heavy investment of time and money in software or hosting. Plenty of time for that down the road. :)

You can also try a free 30 day trial of Homestead SiteBuilder. That is what I started with about 4 years ago and I still use them. For the 5 domains and sites I have it costs me about $26 a month for hosting, domain, free email accounts, etc. Every time I have had a question, I got instant answers and support.

Anyway, you can try a free trial for 30 days and get a feel for things. I didn't know a thing about it either, when I started with Homestead. Also, there are cheaper plans. Mine is high because I have several websites and email accounts. You can add new domains later for about $2 each.

Good luck.

Oh, just go to http://www.homestead.com to check it out. smileys/smiley1.gif

I too would recommend a blog as they are easy to set up (I recently did one in under an hour including purchasing the domain, installing everything, and making a photo album) so if I were you I would say this is the route to go. If you need any help feel free to send me a PM

I agree that a blog is the way to go. They are already set-up for you and the more content you add the quicker search engines will find them. All you do is write.

Now, as far as Godaddy...they charge you for anything they can. It's rediculous!

What you can do since you already have your domain is add one page to your site and add some information there. I would help you with this if you're interested.

Microsoft Office Live (http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/officelive/default.aspx) offers free site/site builder. It's pretty basic, not a whole lot of templates, but something to get you started. And it has modules where you can add HTML, maps, etc.

Here is a site I designed with it: www.greatservicenohassle.com (http://www.greatservicenohassle.com).

One thing you should know is that I have tables in tables in order to get everything lined correctly so that it looked right in both IE and Firefox. That was the hardest part!

Good Luck!

I would definately recommend starting out for now with a blogspot blog. It's interface is really easy to use and it's free.
