I have sold 2 skin care lines in the past and had poor results for several reasons, I think: 1) Everyone & her sister is a rep (can you guess which one that is...think pink) and the market is flooded with people asking for home shows. 2) I wasn't totally committed to the product line. 3) I felt the price of one line I recently represented was entirely too high and couldn't "push" the line---if I wouldn't buy it, I can't sell it.
I love the Spa industry...and want to do home spa shows instead of home make up shows. Is this an approach that would work with Arbonne?
As far as sales go, what is the average home show attendance, per guest purchase and show sales average? Do you, as consultants, have re-order business? Is it something you have to beg for?
As for selling in salons, it seems a lot of Arbonne consultants are hitting the salons lately (I've been getting my hair cut when some have come in passing out samples and trying to recruit). Is that market flooded?
Thanks in advance for answering these questions. Please don't take offense to anything I've asked or said, I truly am interested in a great skin care line and am looking into 3 companies right now.

Hi Kim, I am from Canada and It is very new here so I know that salons are just starting to get asked but I know that in lots of different parts of the States there are hardly any consultants. There is a demographic map that will show you how many Managers are in an area. As for average show sales average, I like to do 400-500 per presentation. The Spa approach is really working well, we call them Spa Nights, and people love to host them. I would really encourage trying a sample yourself and then you can see what all the hype is about! I am totally committed to Arbonne so I have no problem selling because I belive in all the products. There is also different lines for every budget so there is something for eveyone. Let me know if you need a sample.

I think Katharine is right, if you are committed to the product & believe in it then you have no problem sharing it with others. I love both this company & our products so I enjoy talking about them to other people.
As far as price goes I feel that our line is priced great because I know the high quality of the line. I know what goes into each product as far as quality of ingredient & quality of research & development. Also, anyone can get a great discount on it by signing up to get the wholesale price.
Spa parties work very well with Arbonne. That is how many of our successful VP's became so successful. I am sure the average home sale show varied per area but in mine it wasn't uncommon to do about $250 per person. Some people bought less but most wanted the Anti aging line. We have a great re-order business. Our consumers are loyal & our retention rate is high. So I have never had to worry about begging.
Arbonne is currently growing at a very fast rate. So now is the perfect time to get into the company because we are not saturated yet. It may seem in certain areas that we are but we are not. I am in Oklahoma, which has been the highest concentration of Arbonne users for awhile. I still run into people who have never used or heard of Arbonne. That is because there are over 3.00 million people in the state & only about 1869 people signed up for Arbonne. And a lot of those don't actively sell. So you can see that we are far from flooded. smileys/smiley1.gif

OK, here's another couple of questions:
I know it only costs $29 to join, but you don't get any product for that price. How much is it to join with a kit so you can hit the ground running with shows? Also, as far as buying business necessities such as samples, catalogs and stuff, how much is all of that?
As for training, I know there are meetings in all areas like the "pink" team does, but does Arbonne offer a video or other kinds of training like that?
How many guests are in attendance at the average show?
Do you have to have inventory or do you place orders to be delivered to the customer or yourself?
Thanks guys, some consultants don't like to answer questions like these!

Hi Kim,
There is another kit for business builders. It is $96. Here is all the info on the two kit options:
http://www.arbonne.com/company/startNOW.html (http://www.arbonne.com/company/startNOW.html)
Arbonne offers free training at Arbonne University, an online interactive learning center. They also provide a lot of education and business tools in the consultant section of the website.
Arbonne discourages the stocking of inventory. Our products have expiration dates.
Orders can be placed right online, delivered to the consultant or to the client. Orders can be phoned or faxed in too.

You can invest as little or as much as you want. If you start out with a couple of open houses in your own home you could receivequite a bit of product that way thru hostess rewards. Usually most of my consultants take the company RSVP which gives you your product at half price! I go and help my new team menbers with their first few parties with all my product, that way they can decide how much and which products they want to carry.

Katharine,
What a gem you are. It is clear that you are running a business and seeing the long term, big picture and not trying to make $$ from simply having your downline purchase everything under the sun to further your position. I am sure there are many others like you and this is very encouraging as I contemplate my direction with Arbonne.
Thanks for sharing!

Spa night or Spa parties or Spa escapes are another form of a "party" or "presentation". I find that people are more receptive to attend or host one of these. I usually tell the hostess to invite over 5 girlfriends and we do facials and sea salt treatments and make up application. I even bring dessert!

We also used to do foot spas. You can get some tubs at Walmart for less than $1. (the kind for dishes) Out some unwind bath salts in there & maybe some gel if you want. Let them soak in the warm water. You can have them use a (new) foot pumice if you want or not. (Starting September you can use the Unwind Sea Salt Scrub)Then use the herbal foot cream on it. Works great when it's warm since people are in sandals. WInter is a little harder since they are wearing socks & panty hose.

Hi - good decision to ask about Arbonne...
Another good way to get product is to order something called an RSVP. You are entitled to order $700 worth of product for $350. This is the way that I got my products for my first spa evenings. I made back my initial investment in about 2 months. The way I see it now is that I have lost nothing. I always start my people off with at least 4 products of the anti-aging line. That way you can try the amazing products and start arbonising your home.
If you would like some more info. you could visit me on my web site.

Wow Karen! You really Arbonnized. smileys/smiley2.gifYou may not make it back immediately but as long as you stay in activity & don't quit then you'll be fine. Any business you start you are going to put money into & you may not make that money back in the beginning. (Just be glad that it wasn't 250 K lor more for a traditional business!) You have to build your business first. As long as you don't go in with an unreasonable expectation (like you'll be rich in two months) then it's ok. You use enough capital to be serious in your business but not so much that you are terrified. A little bit of being scared is probably good, it'll motivate you into action.
Listen to your upline. They have been there before & will help you to be a success. You'll do great!

Do you guys sell a lot of the RE9 products? I have heard that is the best way to get customers started using our products.
Also, do you use the "puppy dog" approach? That seems so strange to me! But, I don't fix something that's not broken!

it's not strange at all Kim, it just makes sense! You test drive a car before you buy it, you try on clothes before you buy, heck you can even taste test cheese at the deli counter and bagels at the bagel shop before you buy! smileys/smiley36.gifWhy not "test drive" RE9 too?smileys/smiley2.gif

Puppy doggin it ans Re9 samples are the way ta go. I also invested the same amount and in 7 months became an Area Manager and have made back my initial investment 4 times over or more. My theory is if your gonna giver, giver hard. Everyone is different but if you work the buisness the way they teach us it works!!! But just be prepared to give it several months before you start seeing your buisness grow. Just don't give uphttp://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley20.gif
