Hopefully this isn't too long lol, but I'm going to copy and paste from my journal on cafemom because it answers your question
.When I had my daughter 2 years ago I knew I had to find something to do from home...I couldn't bear to leave her with someone all day while I worked outside of the home. So I found a job as an independant sales rep for a very reputable baby carrier company. They are an AWESOME company with a high quality product. I went from 1 store to 50 stores that had my product in about a year. I was one of their top producers....then BAM! The economy went downhill and fast and so did my commissions! I called my stores to get them to reorder and they told me "Roz, we love your slings and our customers do too...but the problem is that people are really strapped right now and frankly, no one is coming in to buy ANYTHING. They just don't have money for extras right now." And then it hit me. I needed to find a home business that had a product that people NEEDED, versus wanted. So I began my search...and it took me 6 months to find my dream business. I first thought about becoming a distributor for a company that I took their whole food supplement during my pregnancy. I had an outstanding pregnancy with no morning sickness or any complications. So I figure that may be a good place to start (forgetting about the need to find a product that was NECESSARY versus a want...) so to cover all of my bases I called my good friend who has been in Network Marketing for over 10 years. She too has sold a "super-fruit" product and was successful with it. But she told me that with the economy the way it is, she's seen her residual income go down the drain, because eventhough people love these products, they just don't have the money for it anymore. So she had the exact same experiance I did...except hers was with her residual income that she worked so long and hard for and with one fell swoop of the economy it pretty much vanished. That was her retirement money. So after talking with her I tried a business that while it had a service people needed...I did not have the passion for it and needless to say I did not do well lol...Then came AmeriPlan®! This relates to more of my PASSION...so I am doing very well with it! I joined AmeriPlan® because as a Dental Hygienist I see the need that people have in needing Dental Discounts when I see them as patients. So often they delay treatment because of the cost associated with it. But a lot of times they don't realize that by delaying treatment they will cost themselves more in the end because instead of fixing a small cavity, it keeps growing and growing until the tooth starts to hurt and they now need a Root Canal and a Crown. This one tooth with a small problem went from costing them around $160 to fix exploding to over $2000 when it get so bad that they need that Root Canal. Thankfully now I can recommend a very affordable discount program with AmeriPlan® Dental Plus. The discounts range from 50%-80%! This includes braces (excludes orthodontic treatment already in progress) and any other ongoing conditions! Not only that but AmeriPlan® offers Medical Programs from $29-95-$59.95 for the whole household! AmeriPlan® Programs are wonderful alternatives to high-priced insurance premiums. People who are self-employed, who can't afford regular insurance, those who are young and very healthy, those who have ongoing conditions and the insurance companies denies them, and others would benefit from our programs. For example, I compared what I was paying with a MAJOR insurance company for me and my 2 year old daughter. For 6 months I paid them $1200. I only used close to $600 for one well child visit (which only happens once a year). Had I been with AmeriPlan® my cost for membership for those months would have been $180, and the cost of that well-child visit would have been around $350. So total for 6 months that is $530. I would have saved $670!!!! Talk about savings!!!! So the main reason why I joined AmeriPlan was because of my experiance with working at home with a great product...but one that was a "want". Something that people could get cheaper at Target or Walmart. Sure the product was inferior to what I had, but it is what most could afford. Not only that, but with a degree in dental hygiene it just made sense to offer something like what we offer. We are the cheaper option! I've had people cancel their insurance to get on AmeriPlan because it was more affordable. So it's like what people did to me in going to target for a cheaper sling...instead now I have the cheaper option so I'm profiting from that (and of course helping them save money but still feel that they are taken care of healthcare-wise). The other business I tried between the sling one and AmeriPlan had a product that IMO is even more of a need than what we offer, electricity. Who does not use electricity??? That's what enticed me about this business, but come to find out I had NO passion for this whatsoever! Sure people would save money, but to be able to help people live a healthier life, especially dental-wise just hit home for me. The electricity biz cost $430 to start and I made NO money with it. I didn't work it as hard as I could of of course, but my biggest hangup was that I felt bad asking people to shell out $430! And when you feel that way, it comes across to whomever you talk with and you can't hide it lol...so even though I did call a ton of leads, it just couldn't work for me because I didn't like asking people to spend that kind of money. So when I saw AmeriPlan and saw that there is a $50 option (when I started the lowest you could start was $95 which is still MUCH better) I was sold on that too because it was reasonable. One of the ways you can tell if a company might be scamming you is the start up cost. You should get something for that start up cost that is comparable to what the cost is. For $430 I got a leather-like briefcase with like 3 brochures and the policies and procedure manual. Not worth $430. I didn't get anything else and that was one of the major reasons why I couldn't get people to join...I knew that wasn't right. While that company is still in business and is saving people money on their electricity, I still don't like that start up cost...something seems fishy! Anyway, with AP you get what you put in moneywise to start. I have a lot of reasons why I love this company...and the more I'm with the company the more reasons I get! Everytime they've made changes it's been for the good of us IBO's and I just can't believe it! So many enhancements it's really apparant that corporate wants us to make money and succeed. But in turn we do have to work our butts off lol...but wouldn't we be doing that at a job anyway?? |

You know for me I tried multiple companies before AP I also tried a few silly things we know does not work like the envelope stuffing, crafts, surveys etc.. ect.... I was determined to a find a company that would work for me I am not into products or home parties. I just wanted something I could do from home on the phone and the computer. I did not want to cold call or chase anyone and I did not want to bother friends and family. I am very lucky though I just happened to get into this business with an incredible team that offers so much training, guidance and support. So I never feel alone I also have a good sponsor and mentor that really helps out a lot. Over time it becomes more then just a business it gets in your heart
