Default IBOs that don't make it...

There is a very high percentage of IBOs that don't make it.

This is probably because they don't listen to their mentors or they really don't work at it. Or they don't believe in the system that they are selling (I am afraid I might fall into this hole later).

How do you bring new IBOs on knowing that only 1-2 out of 10 will actually still be around a few months later?

You want to reassure a potential recruit that this is not a scam and that they will make money and do fine if they really work at it, but in the back of your mind you know that there is a high possibly that they won't make a dime.

How do you market to them? Do you just believe that strongly that everyone you bring in will have a life changing experience (and if they don't then it is their fault)?

I guess this is something that I am going to just have to accept.

This is one of the things that I have to get my arms around. I guess I really don't 100% believe yet that this CAN actually work for me. I want to believe, but I don't understand all the marketing stuff and if I don't understand it how am I supposed to train someone else to. I am hoping that things will make sense once I start my training.

I have a few personal things I need to do before I can join (most of them are tax related and since December is only two months away I need to make sure that they are worked out before I start. If I was starting this business in the beginning of the year then I would have time to work out these issues, but since I am starting at the end of the year, I don't), but once I do join I want to make sure that I believe in what I sell.

The thing is that I won't really believe it until I am actually making money. So it is a catch 22. I need the IBOs to join so I start to believe that the system will work but then I need to feel like I can honestly tell the IBOs that join that it works.

Any advice?

If you look at any NWM business there is a high turn over rate your right the reason's for this does vary like you said some people do things in life and its just not the right time for them, people sign up work their business then along comes something that happens and now their business gets placed on hold or maybe they do give up at this point some of them a few months later start again and this time they really do get it going maybe they don't its just like starting a new job and you don't like it or it's just not for you, you move on.

If you set goals for yourself and figure out your "WHY" it gives you something to work towards. If your "WHY" is big enough and you are motivated enough then this might be enough for you but you are never going to know until you do it!

When I start getting down I have people like Dani Johnson, Doug Firebaugh or maybe even Michael Oliver help me out I have read many books, listened to tapes, cd's etc...and the best part is these people are even funny to listen to and they make you feel like they are talking to you!

You have to remember there is alot for you to learn and you have extra time on your hands now your starting to wonder "what color Dennis Bloom's briefs are" j/k. I really think your beating yourself up a little to much! I think I've said enough for now why don't you get a hold of your sponsor and find out what she suggests you do next?

You are right...there is a high turnover rate in NWM. So you as the mentor/sponsor will just want to make sure that you are there for everyone that you recruit. You just want to make sure that you are not the reason why they quit, ie: not returning phone calls, not being there for them, not encouraging them etc.

But, it is up to every person that you recruit to make this business work for them. If they don't make money, it really is their doing for the reasons you explained. Even if you turned out to be a bad mentor (I know you won't but just showing as an example) then they should know to go upline to Cynthia and keep going up until they get the help they need. If they quit, ultimately for whatever reason it is, it's usually out of your hands.

It is something to accept because you don't have control over their lives and the circumstances that may befall them (and it's a good thing we don't lol!) So what we do is just let them know that we believe in them and know that this business can work for everyone that works their business consistantly. If they choose to get plugged in and work it then they will make money (this goes for you too).

Just like Linda says though...these thoughts are really something to talk with Cynthia about, as likely she's had the same thoughts too! I think we all have lol! But talking to her will help you to know what to do when anyone you enroll comes to you with the same issues .

Just like any other business out there, we have to learn and educate ourselves on it so we can succeed. This is where Personal Development is HUGE. Likely the team you join has their favorites to recommend. HTH!

I totally agree with Linda and Rozlyn.

My advice to you is to stop over-analyzing and looking for the negative. And I don’t mean that in a critical way. We always find what we're looking for and what we focus on grows. You’re doing yourself a disservice when you focus on the negative and looking for what could go wrong - setting yourself up for failure before you even start.

The bad news is that like with any business, Network Marketing or otherwise, the failure rate is extremely high and IBO's will come and go. You just can't force someone to build their business - It's not enough for you to want it for them, THEY have to want it. If the timing isn’t right and they don’t have a big enough WHY, their excuses "reasons" will usually win.

That’s just the nature of the industry. Most won’t but many will. And many won't now, but will later (timing). It is what it is....

The good news is that doesn't stop YOU or anyone else from being successful UNLESS you let it! Find the ones who are ready – they’re out there. Once you start building a team, it’s a blast because you get to play a part in and share in other’s successes.

And don't worry about knowing everything - no one does and never will. Start with the basics and build from there. Small actions done consistently over time will yield big results.....Rome wasn't built in a day (LOL sorry, I know it's overused but it's true).

As for the catch 22……..if you don’t have first-hand experience to draw from, you have plenty of examples of other’s success – your enroller Cynthia for one. Besides, YOUR success doesn’t dictate someone else’s success – WE, ourselves, determine how far we want to go – we’re not limited by what our enroller has done – there’s no glass ceiling here - the sky is the limit! So, you just focus on getting people the information they need to make the best decision for themselves and be there for the ones you bring on board.

Hi Karen,

Bless your heart!! Most any business statistics you’ll look at will tell you that atleast 80% of business fail within their first 5 years. Any business – Any industry... even those where MILLIONS of dollars are put on the line to start up the business. The percentages in our industry are probably a bit higher BECAUSE the start-up costs are so low that people tend not to really commit to their business. The right people will see it and work the business. The wrong people won’t. They are adults and make their own decisions. Remember I told you before that because of the heartache I’ve experienced in this business I tend to be more selective? That’s why. Because I can only work with the willing and I’m committed to being there for my business partners. We can’t train you on everything until you’re in the business, so you have to trust that some of the questions you’re having will come clear once you’re a business partner. To start, as I’m sure you’re already doing, file away some of the different emails you’ve gotten from me. You’ll probably want to use some of them as you contact your prospects. The key thing with this business since it’s not a brand new idea or business that you’re starting, is that there are already tracks in place to run in when you get started. In the beginning, you’re going to attract people with your ability to “fake it until you make it” while you create your success story; speak with confidence and excitement even though you may be nervous and USE your uplines and corporate to help you tell the story. Duplicate and be duplicatable.

Okay, I’m starting to ramble. It’s been a long day and my bed is calling. :-) Bottomline, this is a business and you need to treat it like a business to succeed. There are many, many, people making money with their AmeriPlan business are you going to be one? Your choice. Like Linda talked about, having a big “WHY” will buoy you through the hard times. When you finally reach that goal, you’ll wonder why did you worry and you’ll be humbled by the number of people who helped you make it happen.

Hugs and blessings to you, Karen. We’re all here rooting for you.

Cynthia

POSITIVE THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK:"I believe that to achieve success, you must have a strong will desire and mental clarity, a program you can follow, and mentors.

Default Thanks guys

I just wanted to ask that question for food for thought.

No, I not focusing on the negative. I, actually, am quite the opposite. I seem to focus a little too much on the positive.

I am also a very caring person. I will have to start looking at this like a business. I can care about the people under me, but if they don't make it it is because they don't make it...

The reason I asked the question is because a few people asked me about Ameriplan and I talked about it a bit but I don't want to be "blamed" for them joining and not making it.

I guess I am going to have to realize that everyone is a big boy or girl and their success is their success.

One of the things that really draws me to this is that fact that I have seen people join then quit and then join again. That means that they believe in the product and the system but they just weren't dedicated before and know that they can make improvements to have a different outcome a second time.

I am racing to finish what I need to get done so I can move forward in my business.

The main hold up is my tax guy. He is on vacation (well he was on vacation, he got back today I think). I asked him some questions and need to make sure that I get those answered and then if I end up taking the office space deduction on my taxes then I will need to set up my office per IRS standards.

Thanks ladies. You always seem to make me feel better or give me a different way of looking at things...

Just to clarify what I was trying to say….to me, your initial question was a focus on the negative because you’re looking at how many people have failed, what if they blame you, what if you fall into the same trap, etc. etc. Even if just "food for thought" it's damaging TO YOU so my advice was to stop thinking about the negative “what if’s”. All you need right now is an aiming point and action and everything else will fall into place over time. Don’t start worrying about everything that will be involved and everything that could go wrong. When you come up against an obstacle, deal with it but don’t go looking for it.

This is a business but caring about other people is essential because, to me, that’s the cornerstone of what this business is really all about. Reaching OUR goals by helping OTHERS reach theirs. It’s pretty amazing when you think about it. However, unfortunately, no matter how much we care, we can’t guarantee anything because it’s up to each individual. Many people fail because they just don’t want it bad enough and not that there’s anything wrong with them, the company, the services, their enroller, the industry. You just CAN’T force someone – THEY have to want it. Yes, company, product/service, duplicateable system, training, mentoring is critical but without a strong desire, it only goes so far.

This is why being very clear on your “Why” is so important. And your real “WHY” is never money. Your driving force must be WAY MORE than just money. It’s either something you want in life or something you don’t want OR better yet both. A person’s WHY has to be big enough because when they come up against an obstacle, if it’s not, they’re gone. BUT if their why IS big enough - bigger than their excuses (reasons), they’ll overcome those obstacles and be successful.

Many have tried once, twice before and then do it again AND succeed this time because they’re ready. Everything is the same except for their mindset. The difference NOW is that they made up their mind and just do it. So, just because someone has failed before, does NOT mean they can't succeed. Quite the contrary, when you look at most successful people, they have failed many times before they finally achieve success
