Many people do not understand internet marketing and what it is.

Many people look at the internet as their marketing hero it just isn't. People call themselves internet marketers in the year 1890 nobody said I am a newspaper marketer LOL

The internet is a distribution channel what is most important is your message.

When you say "what are the benefits", do you mean as a home based business method?

"Internet marketing" is not really an industry unto itself. Instead, it is actually just a method of marketing your business. Many people call it that as though it is a business all by itself. No more than newspaper classified ads are a "business" is internet marketing a business.

That being said, there are online businesses that are phenomenal. It's all about where you place your focus. Do you have what it takes to work the long hours to get things going? It is not a get rich quick thing, for sure. But, the payoffs of working online are huge.

Personally speaking, I have been able to bring myself and my husband home from jobs through working online. We also homeschool 3 kids while running our various online businesses. So, yes, the benefits are wonderful if you are willing to learn and work.

As others have said, I wouldn't make internet marketing my only marketing channel, but its certainly a great one. One of the biggest benefits? Think of the billions of people that use the internet everyday, you have a great reach on the internet.

Lower costs - you don't have to pay for the overhead of an office etc. You can essentially adverstise with next to nothing just by using hosting, wordpress, and social media sites.

You can promote digital products which cost very little to create and you have an infinite supply, as opposed to physical products.
