Question I need a mentor!

I desperately need a mentor of sorts. I know nothing is for free, so maybe we can network for future business?

I became interested in AM about 6 months ago. I did as much reasearch as I could and then dove in. So far, I have a niche, hosting service, domain name, I have designed some of my webpages using FrontPage...but now I am stuck! I don't know much about publishing pages to the website, I don't know how to link the pages together or much about SEO--it's all kind of confusing to me. I am an intelligent, self-motivated, resourceful person, and I can learn quite a bit on my own, but nothing can beat the advice of someone that has btdt or is learning too!

Any help is very appreciated!!

Thanks,
Christina

I would help you out but all my websites are on Wordpress, which is really easy to use.

I have not worked with Frontpage.

Have you thought about using WP?

Default Hi!

My hosting service, Hostgator, has a link to WP to set up a blog on the site. I haven't played around with it too much because I wasn't sure that I would know how to undo whatever I did, if I needed to. My ultimate plan was to incorporate that into the page, though.

I will go to the WP website and explore.

Thanks!

Christina

LilBlackDress--Thank you for recommending Wordpress!! I have successfully removed my "under construction" page and installed WP. I was able to get some help through hostgators live chat, it is proving to be helpful! I now have it up and running; it looks great I am so excited!! I can't wait to play around with it some more.

Awesome. Glad you are up and running.

Hostgator is amazingly helpful.

Be sure to install plugins to make it even easier. These can be easily installed in the dashboard of your blog.
Plug ins like Contact, Google XML Sitemap, Privacy, All in one SEO etc.

If you plan to monetize your blog you will also want to include a Disclaimer and Privacy Policy.

Question Baby Steps...

Ok, I have installed Google XML Sitemap and Privacy Policy. I also installed WP Policies, which looks like it is supposed to keep all policy files in the same folder and easy to insert (all together) within the page code. I am trying to get them all displayed on the bottom of my page.
Just a couple of questions…bear with me, I’m learning. 
1. Where (exactly) can I go to insert that code for the site map or privacy policy? It says to insert anywhere within the footer php line, but I get a syntax error no matter where I insert it.
2. Not sure if you are familiar with the WP Policies plugin, but if I understand it correctly, I should be able to put all of my policy pages (i.e., disclaimer, site map, etc.) in one folder and add that code to the html page? Do I just enter that <!-- googleprivacypolicy --> into the html box or is there more to it than that?
Thank you for all your help so far—you are awesome!!

I am not familiar with WP Policies.

I like to put my Privacy Policy, XML Sitemap, Contact and Disclaimer on individual Pages on my site.

So I put the code on the page and name the page. Each has its own page.

Then I make sure I have the Page text box showing up on my website in the widgets section.

I rename it from Pages to Site Info or Acne Cream Site Info (to get my keyword in there) OR whatever the keyword is.

Default Taking the Next Steps

Congratulations on getting your WP set up. As far as plugins, look for the ClickBank plugin and Amazon plugin. These let you server up affiliate products automatically on your blog based on the headlines of your posts. These plugins are free. Also, take a look at a company called Infolinks. When you install this plugin, some of the keywords in your content into links that when moused-over display a pop up ad over the link. if your visitor clicks on the ad, you earn some coin.

Next,. you need to get traffic to your site. There are no magic ways to get traffic. You can generate traffic with a Twitter account, and a Facebook Fan page, among other ways. You won't make a dime in AM unless you have hundreds and hundreds of daily visitors to your blog.
