Default Marketing Your Business

How not to market your business

I believe forums are designed for discussion not as a place to build backlinks as some people try.

Forums such as this and The Warrior Forum do not allow signatures to be added to posts until a certain criteria is met, in order to reduce fly bye posters. Usually there are also rules about links in posts or where you can promote you business, break any of the rules and you will be suspended or even banned. They are however great place to learn about marketing you business and at the same time get answers to questions or clarification on what works and what doesn't. But not everyone understand the advise been given out.

I having been looking at how people advertise their business in the WAHM forum and these are some of the headings

This is the easiest way to make money online and you will guaranteed
7 posts with same content in last 3 day

Work from home free! Make extra money!
over 51 posts in two weeks

All the above posts contain exactly the same content, nothing new or informative a complete waste of time, unfortunately all they do is clog the system, I do not know why they continue.

Now compare that with my advertisement in the same part of the forum

How to Earn Money in Property
2 posts in three days in one thread so that the reader can learn a little more about my business each time.

I am sorry apparently posting the way I did is regarded as bumping and thread was removed and in the forum duplicate posts are valid so long as the page has rolled over

You need to engage the reader and earn their trust and respect, providing information which will assist them in making a decision, rather than try to wear them down with the same old tired message. It is not only forums that suffer from this mentality some people use email in a similar way.

I agree....Marketing is an inexact science and marketing on the internet is darn near impossible.....Whatever works at the time will soon be obsolete.....

Not every marketing method will become obsolete, there will only be slight changes, in fact, marketing technique like article marketing has remained the same way it has been since the beginning.

Default Marketing your business - routine

John,

Yes I have used article marketing, perhaps not as often as I should, my weapons of choice are blogging and classified advertising.

I think it is important however that you establish a daily routine for marketing your business,

I usually start my day by checking my phone for any messages and then making phone calls in response to these phone calls or email received.

The next step is to create a few blog posts and classified ads, and then finally I look to see what is going on in forums and skype chats.

One advantage of having a routine and sticking to it is that over time it actually saves you time, my essential working time now takes less that 3 hours whereas it used to take six or more, because I had no sense of direction.

The time that I have saved can now be used for new projects, updating websites, helping other people or learning new techniques.

I have promised my partner that by the end of next year I plan to have all my work completed withing 3 hours, so I can regard myself as fully retired and able to spend quality time with my family exploring the new country which is now my home.

Good and useful information. "forums are designed for discussion not as a place to build backlinks as some people try."
Thanks.

Very good information. People they think they will make a quick sale by using spamming techniques. Either they are just lazy or they really don't know how to market what they are selling.

Having a set of tasks to do to promote you buissness everyday I think is key. It is very easy to get side tracked on the next great idea. Or going down the rabbit hole on figuring out how to do somethig or reading blogs, fourms, email, etc... First figure out your main marketing methods. Then create a checklist of the things that you need to do. Set a schedule and stick to it. Good luck!

I couldn't agree with you more! Forums should be a place to share tips and strategies with others and not try to "pitch" each other. I also agree that daily consistent action is key. Figure out a plan and stick to it. I like to utilize a combination of email marketing/blogging and article marketing.

WOW are you kidding? All my marketing is done online and I do very well. It just depends on how you do it and what you are marketing.
