Default domain names and seo.

hi,

if i have a domain name that is based on keyword research and it is used to do a masked forward to another hosted webpage of mine, will that be penalized by google as far as search results are concerned ?

thanks.

Interesting question. My guess (and it really is a guess) is that Google's algorithm will have no way of knowing, let alone taking into account, that it's a "masked forward" and will look at it for SEO purposes exactly like any other domain-name with a site on it.

Looking forward to seeing other answers and whether I'm wrong about that (partly because I have exactly that arrangement myself, for my own blog - not that mine is keyword-researched or anything).

It may be seen as a cloaked link, which is frowned upon by google.

I doubt it. The trouble comes in when your over use that keyword in your content which becomes "Google Bombing".

So If you Google Daddy forwarded your affiliate link to MYHOTHOMEBUSINESS.COM (for example), you should be okay. If you use HotHomeBusiness more than 5% of your keyword density in your pages, it could raise some Google eyebrows.

When in doubt, go to Google videos and type in "Matt Cutts". He's a senior engineer at Google who monitors for spam, so he's got a pretty good idea what you can and cannot do.

Interestingly enough, Matt Cutts despite being a search engine wizard, will always stress quality content first.
