Default Share Your Tips for Affiliate Marketing, Building Websites etc.

I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread on tips for affiliate marketing.

Here is a simple tip that can save you a lot of time. When searching for a free wordpress theme use Google images instead of the regular search. If you type in a name such as "Pink Wordpress theme" a bunch will come up and you can instantly see what they look like. Saves a lot of time over a traditional search.

Anyone else?

Great tip!

My # 1 tip would be to do keyword research and SEO. It's amazing what can come from that.

And another would be do case studies and product reviews.

As for affiliate marketing, one of my biggest tips would be to get to know some of the OPMs and Affiliate Managers. Once they get to know your sites, they can really start recommending specific merchants and products to you that should convert well for your niche.

Find tools that save you time doing the more mundane tasks.

Such as...

Social bookmarking (Bookmarking Demon, SocialBot)
Article submitting (Unique Article Submitter, JetSubmitter, ArticleBot)
Keyword research (Market Samurai, Traffic Travis)
RSS submission (RSSBot)

There are tons of programs for each of these. I just named a few that I have used.

Some are free (Traffic Travis). Some are pretty cheap (ArticleBot, SocialBot). And others are a little more expensive (Market Samurai). All are worth the money though.

One of the biggest pieces of advice I could give is to treat affiliate marketing like a business and not a hobby. Schedule time to do the things that need to be done. Many marketers are so hit and miss and then proclaim it all a failure or it doesn't work. Consistency is KEY.

What she said and to add to it, from the wise Lynn Terry, build from start to profit. Don't get distracted by your next big venture until you've finished the one you're already working on. Constantly jumping ship half-way through a site isn't going to get you far. Keep chugging until you turn a profit, then add something else.

And ever since I took the wise Lynn Terry's advice, bigger and better things started to happen! It's amazing how many people have so many websites and/or blogs and wonder why none of them are successful. I'm not saying everyone but I hear more times than not that many struggle to make them profitable.

This is definitely the best piece of advice! I really should stick to it and stop jumping from one unfinished project to another ...
