1) I think the most important thing re. affiliate marketing is promoting a product and or service that provides VALUE to your visitors/potential customers. This should be goal number one. If the product/service does not provide VALUE-then what are your promoting?

2) Do be credible I believe you should actually own the product you are promoting. How else can you talk about the benefits from a real personal experince unless you own the very thing you're trying to get others to buy? There is a real credibility problem here that many will ignore. Would you buy a HONDA vehicle from your salesmen who drives and owns a FORD prodict? I own SBI, the all purpose e-tools we-hosting service for my personal development/personal goal setting website. I can honestly how parterning with SBI in June 2009 has put my site with a then ALEXA ranking of 8,500,000 to 932,000 today with a USA ranking of 131,000

Whatever it is you are promoting irrespective of your home business niche-you need to own the product/service so you are able to understand the benefits from a real world personal perspective as a home business owner. Not only will you appear more genuine and honest, and trustworthy, your crediblity will not be suspect by many dubious visitors.

3) What is the track record of the product/service you are promoting? Are the any complaints from previous owners of the product/service that is being promoted around the web? fi so, and you are promoting the product via your website-this could spell trouble if enough people complain to BBB/others. As hard as it is on a good day to make a genuine, honest living and operting with integrity-the last thing anyone needs is a black eye and a questionble online reputation.

I'm not judging anyone-just a helpful FYI tip.

4) lastly and equally as important as my number 1 tip, you have to approach affiliate marketing and any business with relationship building first and foremost. Too many IM-ers put up a zillion banners and adds and operate with the mindset of making as much as they can. it's a business, and any business takes time. Your visitors/potential cusomers need to warm up to you first to detemine if they can even trust you. You should operate from the mindset of loving people and using money instead of the worlds' view of loving money and using people to get it.

People don't care how much you KNOW-until they KNOW how much you CARE. Not only is this wisdom applicable in the business world-but is appropriate for the larger game called LIFE.

Best-

Wayne

Learn about outsourcing. This will help your IM business incredibly when you have earned enough to pay others to do some of the basic tasks for you. Freeing yourself up allows you more time to focus on the bigger aspects of your business.

Take action! It's one my biggest challenges because I keep finding new things. It's the bright shiny syndrome. I go online to do one thing and 4 hours later - have started 2 new businesses because I found something else!

I've found my best solution is to task list everything. When I find something new it goes in a "tickle" file for later on. No peaking until I've done my assignments.

Hope this helps.
