Yuliya is right.

Building a list and using an autoresponder serves one main purpose. Most people will not buy something they see the first time they see it. Case in point... You mentioned you have been thinking about trying out Market Samurai. I would bet that you have visited several pages discussing the product, maybe even read several reviews. However, you have not made a purchase yet.

Now if you visited a page that asked you to enter in your name and email address, and you did so, they can continue to market to you on a regular basis. They can send you emails talking about Market Samurai three times a week for the next three months.

It will dramatically increase sales. I used to interview, hire, and train a sales force for a national marketing company. To stay on top of my job I read all kinds of sales reports, books, etc. Most research out there suggests that someone has to be asked to buy something 5-7 times before they say yes. Our conditioned response is, "NO". Building a list gives you a chance to turn more of those NO's into YES's.

Building a list does 2 other things. It gives the people on your list a chance to get to know, like, and trust you. Not every email has to be a sales call. Maybe you found some new technique you are using in affiliate marketing that you want to share with your list. Or maybe you found a great thread on a forum that you think is beneficial for them to read. Maybe you send out an email discussing the challenges of being a wife, mother, and working from home all at the same time.

Second, it will allow you to market other products in the same niche. Using the same example from above... Maybe Market Samurai is just too expensive for some people on your list to take the plunge and they will never buy. However, they would love to hear about a new article submitter or a program that does all their social bookmarking for them.

As you can see, an autoresponder lets you maximize the traffic that you will be working hard to generate.

i also recommend the warrior forum but with the caution not to believe everything you read.

if you have a budget to work with i suggest getting a mentor or a coach to teach you step by step.

if funds are tight forums are a great way to learn and to get started try "bum marketing" techniques like article writing and video marketing to get started

As Mike mentioned, you can't beat the Warrior Forum. It's a complete affiliate education in and of itself. Take your time and read through the postings. You'll find lots of blueprints for getting started - free of charge.

Well planning is esstential! You know the saying, most people don't plan to fail they fail to plan. I think one thing that you need to realize is that you'll never learn everything about affiliate marketing or an affiliate marketing company until you dive right in. Yes, you should study it out first, but if you wait til you know everything then you'll never get involved. Find a company that you'll be able to make money while learning the ins and outs

Yuliya, thank you so much for the shout out.

JBird, I've been doing affiliate marketing for years, but I've never done a site PRIMARILY for affiliate marketing. My sites have all come about as a means to serve a particular need and the affiliate sales are a bonus. I only promote things I really like, so there's never been a great deal of work on finding keywords that fit a particular statistical marker.

I do find the model interesting, though.

I would give you one word of caution when looking at affiliate marketing resources. Often the info is very skewed toward a product/service being sold. That's not bad, just a bias to be aware of in your search.

If you're looking for an inexpensive site to do the marketing on, give me a holler.

Best wishes,

Alison

[QUOTE=Yuliya Mironova;2525949]Having a landing-page serves two main purposes:-

(ii) It enables you to build a list, which is where the real money is in affiliate marketing. The usual way people do that is by having an "opt-in" on whatever simple site/blog they use as their landing page, offering a free report in exchange for the potential customer's email address. You can then send autoresponder email out to the people on your list, which can dramatically increase the numbers of sales you get, especially if you keep the email content interesting and relevant and make people want to open and read them. You do need an autoresponder to do this, and it's a mistake to use a cheap one, because its "deliverability" may not be very good

Hi,

I'm in the process of creating a website for Moms and would love to have an opt-in list but am not sure how to do this?? If I created a report on say saving money, and put an option for people to request the report, does that automatically mean that I can send them emails regarding changes to my website without it being considered spam? Do I need to put something in writing stating that if they request the report that they will be opting in to future emails regarding changes to the site? Just a little confused?? I am promoting affiliate companies on my site and wouldn't want to lose my account with them due to people complaining about spamming. I would love to be able to send opt-in subscribers updates regarding sales that the affiliate companies are having, but I don't think that you are allowed to mention any company names in the email that are sent out to subscribers..which kind of stinks. But I must follow the rules.

Any info would be great!!

Thanks so much,
Melissa

luvmytwins,

Use a company like Aweber, GetResponse, or iContact.

I prefer Aweber (and have an affiliate link to prove it )

It depends if you are willing to spend money or not and exactly what you are looking for.

My personal recommendation would be to join Wealthy Affiliate if you are willing to spend money to learn this business, there really is no better place than Wealthy Affiliate University - they have all the articles, courses, videos, tools, one on one support, member support, and every other aspect of internet marketing that you need to succeed. I dont think there is any other place that has produced more successful internet marketers than they have. But of course everyone out there is recommending this and that so it is very hard to know who to trust.

So I recommend just doing a lot of research on the topic so you can figure out what exactly does work - as I don't expect you to trust me as you don't know me.

Now if you are looking for a free place to learn this business it's going to be a little harder to find somewhere that is really really good. More than that...it's going to be hard to find somewhere where it's going to be easy to learn. Because there aren't really any places out there that take the time to organize and put together their information in a way where it is easy to learn when it is free.

But if you do want the free route, I recommend you google bum marketing method, as it is a great way for beginners to get going with internet marketing. The information is free, and the method is free, so you won't have to invest anything. And you will be able to learn a lot about internet marketing along the way.

I hope this helps you!

Is anyone familiar with Niche Blogging Institute with Andrew Hansen and Colleen Slater? I have been thinking about joining but have not been able to find any reviews or anyone who is using it.

Thanks,
Lori
