Default How to find your Niche

I've been lurking for awhile and wondered about this term "Niche". So far my guess is it's a term you search for on the internet to find out how many sites/searches there are for these things? It sounds like it could be something tanglible or not depending on what you pick? Then you build a website around this?

So many questions I have in my head. Could someone come in and help explain better these Niches and also how to search for them (a thread below mentioned Adwore or some site like that?)

Thanks so much

A niche is, by definition, a narrow "slice" of an affiliate marketing subject. For instance, "guitars" is not a niche - it's way too broad. However, "cutaway acoustic guitars" could be a niche. You need to find a subject you love, do some keyword research, and narrow your focus until you have a subject that is in demand but doesn't have too much competition.

There's a post on my blog about how to choose a subject for your site. Basically, what I recommend is making a list of 50 things you love or enjoy. You should be able to get something from this list that you can work with.

You can also get a lot of information about niche marketing by typing it into Google. Let me know if you need further information.

In my opinion, its so much easier to put things into perspective when you think of a niche as " a group of people who have a common interest or problem".

For example, 'cutaway acoustic guitars' would be a product for "people interested in cutaway acoustic guitars".

This way you can easily narrow in and think of things this group of people do, what they talk about, where they hang out and it would be so much easier to think of things to (cross promote) other than cutaway acoustic guitars.

When thinking of a niche, think " people who ________".

i like the comment that it helps to think of a niche as a group of people that's a good way to look at it.

the way i find niches is to find a group of people that have a similar problem. than find an ebook or product that solve their problem and put the 2 together and make the sale.

if you try to find products that will really help people, you can make good money and do it honestly.

i sell for example an herbal product for hemorrhoids. that grosses most people out but the fact is over 80% of people will have hemorrhoids at some point of their life. with pregnant women the numbers are even higher.

hemorrhoids are very painful and uncomfortable and for a lot of people embarrassing enough that they don't even tell their spouse or want to go to the doctor.

which makes for a perfect product to sell online. because people can go online and purchase without anyone knowing.

i feel good selling it because it's an amazing product and the people that buy it get relief or cure their hemorrhoids

so pick a problem people have find a solution and connect the 2 together and you will make good money and feel good about it

You didn't specify your niche. Once you have chosen a niche, your next job is to get a site, find your keywords and start targeting your market.

Well, some people might say that keyword research needs to go before niche selection in the sense that there's not much point in choosing a niche for which not even longtail keywords will enable your own site to outrank, for example, an article directory. Otherwise you might end up with places like Ezine Articles permanently outranking you for your own keywords, and then you'd be in the strange, illogical and undesirable position of being better off with your traffic going to someone else's site rather than to your own (not so easy ever to be able to develop an authority site under those conditions)!

I have perfected my own way of finding niches using a variety of tools (some free, some not). The best tool to use is your own brain. Start looking for niche ideas everywhere. For example, if you see a TV commercial or a display ad in a magazine, that means that some big company with a lot more money than us did RESEARCH for you. They would not be advertising if it was not worth it. You can take those "seed" keywords and create long tail keywords that you can dominate.

Also, I use a tool that I bought last year to drill down on niches. It is a one time fee, but it has made me so much money and saved me so much time over the months that I would have gladly paid a monthly fee for it. You can watch a video about how to use it with making a Squidoo lens here:

Hope that helps!

I find my niche from what I am interested in and what I am concerning about. And, I will go to clickbank to see the niches I selected, are they popular or not? Hope this will help!

What tool are you using CC, MNF? Your link did not show up.

Lacie8 I also picked up a keyword rich name for a Hemorrhoid site and did a quick redirect on it to an excellent CB product. The plan was to develop a landing page but I am going in a different direction...so if anyone is interested in a Hemorrhoid site PM me!

Here is how I found my niches.....I wrote articles for sites that pay by click. Then I looked at the articles that performed well. I then thought about my interests and based sites around the articles that did well.
For example one article alone netted me over $600 so I built a site around that topic. Another article consistently earned and I made a site for that etc.

Eventually I refined that and am now focused on just a couple sites in my main area of interest and the others I will probably sell.

I do want to add that it is very important to me to have quality sites with products and companies I believe in. I want to add value and treat consumers the way I like to be treated. I have spent hours on the phone talking with companies I am an affiliate of, using the products and checking them out.
