Spending can save a lot of your time, but not spending tends to force you to learn new things and that I value greatly. Plus, it's less risky and obviously much faster to turn a profit this way. When I first started out, I was so skeptical and negative about everything that I refused to spend ANY money until I saw some. I always stress to people that are curious about what I do that they practically only need a web connection to get started. Nowadays, I do spend money on advertising, design, software, and things like that but I'm still very cautious and fully believe I could do without these things, but like I said, it saves a lot of time.

I think you reach a point where you want to start making things easier.

When you do that might mean outsourcing or investing in a article submitter or investing in a membership program...

You do not have to spend money, but when you start making money invest back in your business can help you out a lot.

I don't spend any money and make money daily. If you post to forums, write articles, traffic exchanges, use the social networks facebook, twitter, youtube and then do email marketing. I do not have any fancy autoresponder just email my list about every other week or so. You can get started with all the free stuff, start earning money and then like others have mentioned when the time is right you can re-invest if you want.

I spend very little as well although I trained as an accountant several years ago, so it's only natural for me to be tight with my money.

I disagree that you shouldnt spend ANY money. After you start making at least a few hundred per month you should pick something that you can pay someone else to do that is time consuming (ie design or writing) and use a small percentage of your earnings each month to pay someone to do that for you. This will give you valuable tax deductions and frees up your time to work on additional projects. My first year I had no tax deductions and I really paid for it. I wish I had reinvested that money in my business.

So I am starting to wonder if I am in the minority. Other than my annual fee for my web domain, I don't spend any money at all on my affiliate marketing. Are there others out there like me?

I don't know, I guess I could experiment with doing some paid marketing, but I just haven't needed to. Am I missing the boat? Or for those of you who didn't use to spend money, but now do, what kind of an increase did you see?
Ditto here-

If you have a product and/or service that provides value, and develop a content rich website that is KEY WORD focused, you should not have to pay a dime for your traffic. Just submit unqiue business niche articles to Ezines et al, and you will have the organic traffic you will ever need.

Best-

Wayne
