I think this permalink Newbie can answer your question :-)

I tried for a while to get by without a website. I didn't get anywhere.

I really liked the idea of bum marketing and simply writing articles and pointing them to different affiliate programs. However, they didn't work. Sure I had lots of traffic, but no one was buying. The traffic is useless if it wasn't making me any money.

I started with Squidoo and then moved on to Wordpress. It wasn't until then that I finally started to make a bit of money.

IMO, there has to be a trust before someone will buy something that you recommend. A website or blog works beautifully.

You could use squidoo, it is like having your own website but it is free and you can create many different micro-niche lenses that are all linked together thus sending your traffic from one lens to another.

This is a great way to get started with affiliate marketing. Squidoo has come a long way and you can put links in there to whatever affiliate products you are promoting.

Check out squidoo its really a favorite of mine!

Please excuse a "cautionary note" but there are a number of very significant downsides and risks, as well, for using Squidoo for affiliate marketing. The professional affiliates over in the Warrior Forum seem to have great reservations about it and recommend it only as part of a backlinking strategy rather than for use as an income-producing affiliate website.

There's some interesting discussion about Squidoo here, too, especially in this thread, this thread and this thread.

I would 100% stay away from Squidoo, Hubpages, or any other such site as your income source webpage. They are great for backlinks and pushing traffic to your site. For anything else, they are unreliable, and you are taking a big risk by using them.

As far as affiliate marketing without a website... When I first started dabbling in affiliate marketing I asked this same question to someone who had been doing this for awhile. The response I got was, "Affiliate marketing without a website is kind of like having sex without a partner. Sure, you can do it, but the results will not be anywhere near the same."

affiliate marketing can be done without a website.

i guess you just need to determine how much you want to make and how consistently you want to make it.

if you answered i want to make a lot and i want to make a lot consistently then you will need a website and in most peoples case you will need several to really earn consistently

i have seen some people make it big with 1 website but the majority i know have done it with several

decide what you want out of affiliate marketing and DO the work needed to get it

I would also recommend a blog or website years ago I started without a website I was able to do it but I did not have much success with it. It is best to send your traffic to your site so you can capture your visitors information for future contact. You always hear the money is in the list well its true, marketers with large lists will send new product releases to their list first that is how they make the bulk of there money.

It is also important that you create your own products as well and set up a affiliate program once you are established enough.

Don't know that you can directly link from a forum to an affiliate link.. Usually you have to route through your site.
