If you're looking for customer service, there are lots of companies to look into , just look in the telecommute folder. I know of only one data entry company for sure, as I almost applied for a position (the application is still sitting on my desktop) - Dion Data Entry.
You should never have to pay for a JOB, but to start a home based business or ANY business, for that matter, is going to cost you some sort of investment and there are several companies listed in this forum that do require a small start up cost, but some of them offer residual income, which is repeat income - work once, get paid several times over - my particular situation, build your base once, and watch it grow rather than rebuilding it again and again.
I pay $50 a month to own my home based business but I also get household Dental-Vision-Prescription-Chiropractic and a whole heck of a lot more. My business is also willable and sellable upon hitting the first pin level with the company. I'm able to work around my 5 month old son (and I won't get in trouble or fired if he starts screaming while I'm on the phone), help people save money on their health care and I also train serious and dedicated individuals to work from home - I work about 3 hours a day, sometimes less, sometimes more. It's your choice
