I typically do installations through FTP. I make sure the necessary Wordpress file permissions are set and that your installation is error-free when completed, resulting in a highly stable and secure blog. You will need your own host and domain, I recommend
www.hostgator.com. If on a low budget, you can just buy a domain
www.godaddy.com and register free hosting on
www.byethost.com.
