My mother has been through a lot in her life, let me start out by saying that. Her and I communicate via text/email when we're not able to be on the phone since we're 1,200 miles away from each other now... well she emailed me last night to let me know she wasn't feeling well (something about her IBS). This morning around 7:30 I got a call from my step father that he had taken her in at 5:30 because the pain was so bad she couldn't take it anymore, and this woman has an incredibly high pain tolerance. They were waiting on results from a CT scan from which they said they thought the cause was a hole in her instestine leaking air into her stomach. They did a colonoscopy and then she was sent in for surgery....came out of surgery pretty quickly with the result that they couldn't find anything and her stomach was full of puss - sign of an infection, and that whatever caused her pain was stress induced.

So now we're waiting on the results from her colonoscopy. What I'm worried about, though, is my mother has been a smoker since she was 15, and she is 53 now, so my main concern is cancer.

My mother has been much more than a mother to me, she's been my best friend above all, and she's one of the very few people I would ever risk my life for. So please keep her in your prayers, even if you're not a praying type, please keep her in good thoughts. I want her to be able to watch her grandson (as well as any other grandchildren we give her) grow up and have his own kids. WE all want her around for a very long time.
