I have a specific niche I want to target but I feel like I'm back at the drawing board.

I see all kinds of claims 'start your affiliate program and start making cash RIGHT NOW'...even if it's not BIG cash, I see this nonetheless and just wanted to know how this is done?
Lakeisha,
Welcome to affiliate marketing! I love it!

I started out with a website and added a blog to it. I use XSitePro web design software for the static site and Wordpress (.org) hosted on my domain for the blog portion. One page sites work best for single product/service sales. A blog is probably easiest to start. Yes, you should have a specific niche in mind, do some research to find if it's a viable niche and then start adding good content to your blog. Over time, you'll also add relevant products from various affiliate programs. This is much more than adding buttons and banners like many people still do.

Affiliate marketing is not just one program, you can use various affiliate networks to find a wide variety of products to promote. The claims you see are most times scams where people try to call it affiliate marketing/program when it's really not. Affiliate marketing takes time. You need to learn about keyword research, search engine optimization, content writing, article marketing and the list goes on.

Does this help?
