If they were smart, and it's obvious they're not, they would take one dollar out of every article and pay the writers $22, instead of $23. As it is, they stand to lose good writers because a monthly fee makes them look like shysters. Poor marketing. To me, that sends up a red flag. If they can't be trusted to make good business decisions...and the pay is dreadfully low...they'll continue to suck in some desperate writers for awhile until they move on to better gigs and, in the long run, their silly concept will be their undoing.
