(October 30, 2007)—A working mom’s to-do list is always full—when she’s not
managing her work responsibilities, she’s juggling the needs of everyone else in
the family. And lately she has one more worry to add to her list: the
environment. No one thinks more about the future of the planet than mothers,
who are vigilant about hazards lurking in the environment and the products they
buy, and how their choices today will affect the planet for their children.
</span></font>
With the environment a priority for anyone with
children,
Working Mother</span>
magazine, the authoritative source for career moms, set out to identify
companies that are taking environmental responsibility
seriously.</span></font>
</span></font>
For the first time, the November issue of
Working Mother</span> is naming the
Best Green Companies for America’s
Children</span>, celebrating innovators who are thinking like moms. These
20 corporate leaders are setting new standards by championing environmentally
safe, innovative business models. All of them are making extraordinary
eco-strides and, in some cases, making up for past missteps. Their progressive
thinking, inventive policies and pioneering spirit are helping make the world a
greener, cleaner place for children.</span></font>
</span></font>
“We know that our actions today are shaping the world
our kids will inherit,” said Suzanne Riss, Editor in Chief,
Working Mother</span> magazine. “That’s why
we’re honoring industry leaders that are making their businesses greener—from
the ingredients and packaging they use to how they build their facilities and
run their manufacturing plants. Thanks to their creative thinking, we can begin
to imagine a future in which business and environmentalism go hand in
hand.”</span></font>
</span></font>
In order to recognize industry-specific challenges and
innovations,
Working Mother</span>
divided the 2007 Best Green Companies for America’s Children into categories
including Apparel, Beauty, Design, Entertainment, Family Products, Fashion,
Finance, Food, Retail, Technology and Transportation.</span></font>
