I don't know where to start this. I have good friends that live in Alabama (I live in Ohio) and they have 8 children. They homeschool and are without a church home right now. He was let go from his job a month ago and now their checking is down to under $100 - which is all that they have left. They live in a single-wide trailer with 8 children.
He is a very gifted speaker and the Lord speaks so clearly through him. His goal is to go into ministry full-time as soon as he can - but needing to feed his family is taking precedence. There isn't anything available where they live.
I know it is a lot to ask - but does anyone have any ideas of how to raise some $$ for them very quickly. They have 10 mouths to feed. I have thought of putting a plea out to the christian community to send in even $5 to them. That would add up quickly.
I know that the Lord will provide - maybe this is His way of providing since I really didn't think of it until just now.
I am open to any suggestions - Thank you and God bless.

Have you checked with your church, local feeding programs or county?
Maybe they qualify for welfare. I mean now is the time to really see if they do. Food stamps will definitely help out while they need to get on their feet.
I have to say though asking for donations is something I wouldn't do. Some people just don't accept that readily and honestly this board is not the place to ask for donations.
But maybe you can ask your neighbors, their neighbors or their church to help out. Have a yard sale. Maybe ask those people above if they need extra help around the house with yard work or something. Get the kids involved. Maybe walking dogs, cleaning yards, having a car wash.

Thank you for the suggestions. I do not live near them - so finding their local information will be a little more complicated. I will make the suggestion to them regarding welfare and so forth. Thanks

What about speaking in front of large groups to make some money? He can develop so many different talks/seminars depending on his background. For instance - "How to Homeschool your Children the Christian Way" or something business oriented if he has a background in that. He can probably work out a deal w/ a local church to use their hall for seminars...perhaps offering a free seminar to members of the church so he can use the place for free and then charge $5/head or something (depending on the topic) for seminars. (hope I'm making sense here...) Anyway, there's money to be made by speaking in front of large groups and if he's willing, I'm sure he can find a way to work things out so that he wouldn't have to spend a dime for a location, flyers/advertising, etc. I will keep the family in my prayers.

Have you looked into finding a church looking for a new pastor, that would be willing to help him through his training and provide a home for his family (kinda like the Camdens from 7th Heaven) I will pray for them.
