Has anyone heard of it? I woke up on Father's Day normal - I thought - when all of a sudden I was brushing my teeth and when I went to spit my right side of my lips twisted to the left and felt numb. Well I was on my way to church that day and said to myself Oh maybe this is just something that will pass. It wasn't, by Monday morning I woke couldn't blink my right eye, couldn't move my right nostril, couldn't move my eyebrow, lips are numb and when I talk they move all to the left, face was in so much pain and my face was paralized. Oh girls this has got to be one of the tramatic experiences anyone could go through. I'm so beside myself. I thought I was having a stroke. Got rushed to hospital had a cat scan and a lyme disease test. All was good except how did I get this? They say It's a virus in your system that attacks the 7th nerve on one side of the face and it's called a nerve injury. Was put on predisone right away for 9 days saw doctor twice since the hospital and face is still the same. Dear Lord I never in my life felt so helpless and lifelless. I'm so scared! The worst part about it is am I ever going to get use of the right side of face again.
Does anyone know if anyone has ever recovered from this, I really need some friends. Thanks for reading. Love LINDA

That does seem very scary and my prayers are with you..
I did a little quick research online and it doesn't look to be a permanent thing though, have your doctors told you how long the paralysis should last?
Everything I've read shows 2 weeks to 3 months.
Please keep us posted, remember that you'll be in my thoughts and prayers.

My neighbor had this happen - I can't remember how long his lasted, but it did eventually go away. (maybe 2 or 3 months?)
I was diagnosed today with BP. I thought I was having a stroke! It was very scary. I didn't get any medicine. The doctor said it would heal on its own. The hardest part is that I can't really focus my eyes to drive. He said it would fully heal in 3-6 months. At least I'm glad my face won't stay like this forever!
How are you doing? Any progress since July? I hope you're doing better.

My father got Bell's Paulsy several years ago and we were really scared b/c he was in his early 60's and we thought he had a stroke. The entire right side of his face was kind of frozen but luckily after about 2 months it went away and it's been about 7 years and he's never had it again since. I hope you are doing better now too

I had this about a year ago after I was sick with an infection. I took vitamin B-12 tablets and I did facial exercises every day and it went away after about 2 weeks or so. My father in law also had it and it went away after about a month or so I think it was. I hope I never have that stuff again! lol

Hello everyone. My prayers are with you all that have ever had BP or know someone else who has, and I also wanted to share my story of BP. I had BP exactly two years ago today. It was scary at first, but it was weird how it got started. I woke up with one of my taste buds swollen, which made it hard for me to eat that entire day. Two days later the swollen was gone, but my left side of my tongue smoothed out as if I didn't have any taste buds on that side. Later that day, I noticed that the rest of my face started to tense up, but didn't thing that anything was wrong, until I noticed that my left eye took longer to blink than the other one. Later that evening, about 10pm, the whole left side went numb, and that's when I realized that something was wrong and I went to the hospital. Was there 'til 7am the next morning, when the on call Dr realized what was wrong. He did prescribe me prednisone to take for five days, and advised me that I will need therapy, for five weeks. The therapy was an electrical stimulant that helps the nerves and muscles to "unstiff", and there were exercises to do to also improve the movement on the side that was affected. My left side did go back to normal by more than 100%, by continuing the exercises even after therapy, in about two & a half months. Aside from the info that I've looked up, I was also told, by a number of doctors that BP can happen again later in life for the some people & that the second time around anything can happen, and for some people, it didn't get any better. I thought they were joking because I heard stories of others that it never happened again, even after more than ten years. Three days ago, BP happened to me again on the same left side of my face. But only this time, I'm a little bit lucky, because it had only numb 25% of my left. I have gone back to the exercises, but it does fell more challenging, because it's not getting better. But I'm not discouraged. I do believe that it'll go away after a couple of weeks again. My advice to those who do have BP, continue doing the exercises and it will go away. Another note, try sugarless gum to work the side affected; trust me it does work after awhile.
hi I have had bells palsy for six months now, while it has gotten better it is still not 100%. The doctors can only tell me that it is caused by an infection in the facial nerve, and they also can not tell me how long it will last for. I was pregnant at the time I got it which they say can also cause it. I also read a lady got bells after having dental work, which I also had 1 week before the onset. As i was pregnant at the time I was not prescribed any drugs until I had my baby, then I was put on a ten day course of Prednisone with no results. I have been given exercises but these do not seem to have worked. I have next to no movement in my forehead on the affected side, my eye constantly tears, feeling of swelling in my cheek, a metallic taste on the affected side of my tongue and sore cheek, brow and forehead bones, it also seems that during the little healing it has done the nerves have gotten mixed up so when I blink my cheek muscles tighten. If anyone has ANY treatments or ideas on how to get my face back i would be extremely greatful, i'm putting off getting married until this is fixed completely so I can have decent photos taken!

Hi, Happy Easter My name is Bill, I have had Bells P. for over 20 years. I hope this information helps you. With Bells P. I also suffered from A.D.D.,Cronic fatigue,Double Vision, horribly sore leggs, ect, and my list goes on and on. The good news is all my phisical problems including Bells P. are 95% gone. This is what I did. I took a test called the Alcat test. This test determines food allergies and food sensitivities.I tested everything possible ( the most important discovery was celiacs disease ) But I also discovered over 100 other food allergies or intollerances. Other tests are a waste of time ,only use this one. After getting test results eliminate irritant foods. Then be aware that this test may have missed a couple of intollerant foods. If you suspect you may have other food intollerances, test that food one at a time and if the food makes you feel bad remove it from your diet. After all that is taken care of you need to take one suppliment called Molocure and remember there are similar products that are inferior ,and dont diliver results. This product is huge in your recovery but results are not over night . Take it at full dose for at least two months and you will start to see your symtoms subside.I dont think anyone has ever heard this information before, please dont think I am a salesman from either company because im not.I am just a person who has suffered for many years while relentlessly searching for an answer to my personal recovery. Please foward this information to other sights that deal with A.D.D ,Cronic fatigue,Fibromyalgia,or Bells P. I am not a computer person or a very good typer. Molocure and Alcat have websights. I am A very busy person and I have not had the time to get this Infofmation out to the masses, I would apreciate your help! Please let me hear how your recovery goes! God Bless,Bill
