First off, I totally DISAGREE with Internetmom who said you have to invest a little money to get your business going. The person that started this message board, asked how she could find a legitimate work at home JOB...NOT A BUSINESS...and furthermore, Cheryl, here at WAHM, posts REAL jobs that you can do AT HOME. So your not entirely correct by saying you have to invest a little money to get a business going. She's looking for a job, not to start her own business, big difference there.

Well, there is no sense repeating what most of the others have said. Sometimes you have to spend money to make money. The key is to research the company, ask alot of questions, and don't spend a fortune. I was also very leary at first but I figured nothing else had produced an income for me, I had nothing to lose but a small amount of money. I figured if that was all I lost in life then no harm done. My investment was the smartest thing I have done online yet.

Within a week of joining, I earned my money back and am making a nice income now.

If you want details about my business, please feel free to email me at tmikos@iboplus.com and I will be happy to send you the link to my website (I don't think I can post it here) and I will also be happy to address any of your questions or concerns.

Hope to hear from you soon and good luck!

You are right there is a huge difference between a job and a home based business. To find a job, you must have above average skills a great resume etc. Employers do not hire folks who just have typing skills. The reason businesses tend to be appealing is because you don't need specialized skills, college degrees etc. Usually what you need is a strong determination to succeed.

There is not one right answer for everyone. Cheryl offers a wonderful site here with ideas to fit every need. Some are jobs and some are business ideas.

The key is to find what YOU want, what you can see yourself investing your time into.

I get real tired of people who say they want to work from home and have a business but are unwilling to invest in themselves to make it a reality. Go ask a franchiser how much he paid for his McDonalds and then be glad if you can find a wonderful proven Network Marketing or Direct Sales company to work with for under $100 dollars.
It takes time to build a home based business and effort and dedication and MONEY.

Okay! I wrote this whole long thing and somehow hit some key and it totally closed me out. So, here is the short version--LOL

I agree that though it does take some sort of money to get started with something, if you don't have it, you don't have it and it gets very frustrating having people tell you that if there is a will, there is a way.
I have some extra money and already spent it and lost it and don't want to do it again-
One thing you can do is look at what you are already using in the home and see if that can be turned into a biz. For example, the mom team or Melaleuca business, costs $29 to start but I hear its really good, i'm not with it so don't quote me pls. LOL
Also, there are other companys like Cognignen that doesn't have a start up costs, etc... And some other household products businesses that don't require you to pay anything but you do have to change over and become a customer and most of the one's I have read you end up saving money from buying thru them, you just sometimes have to buy in larger quantities--not huge or anything. Just kinda like Sams.
I am involved in Juice Plus vitamins. My kiddos and I and my family are already taking it so I looked further into it and found out I could become a distributor by just staying a customer. Easy enough to me.
So, I guess my long winded point is that look at what you enjoy or what you are currently using and see if you can do something with it. If you figure something out that you like and want to email me with questions, feel free. I have tons of contacts with diff moms who are involved in all sorts of things and I can maybe pass their name on to you if you want.
Good luck to you and keep your head up!!

I know how you feel Candy but I have an opportunity that does not require money. The company just want you to work the business since they have spent money on a website for you if you get involved. If you need or want to know just email me at dbaker@prepaidlegal.com or dbaker@handtechisp.com

Personally I think the important question to ask is exactly WHAT are you getting for the investment... are you paying a processing fee? are you getting products? are you getting training materials...??? In order to be successful, if you go into any type sales business, you have to absolutely LOVE the products - you need to buy and use them yourself... you need to invest in those, for your personal use, so you can speak intelligently about them, and so you can honestly recommend them...

Then the second question I would ask is what is how and how quickly you can earn that initial investment back. Don't believe the hyped up income claims that you will make $$$thousands in your first week, or month... Maybe there is someone who did do that, but how much did they have to sell to do it, and how much realistically does an "average" new consultant earn... In my business I like to show a "best case/worst case scenario"... and "worst case" you would end up with products you use and love at a discounted cost...???

I'm speaking from the stand-point of my own sales type business - I know this is not what everyone is looking for - but I'm just giving my own opinion based on the type of business I personally have... and in this case you do usually have some type investment - but that does not make it a scam.

The original poster was looking for a JOB not a business... however this is an MLM board, so most of us here do have an MLM business or are looking to join one... therefore the post that sometimes you have to invest some money to make money is true of many MLMs... if you are looking for a job this is probably not the right board to be looking...??
