Hi Christina,
Tough Question. I am a Real Estate Broker in Missouri and finding good loan officers is tricky. I have just gone through the wringer with loan officers and here is my experience. Find one that will answer your questions promptly. If they tell you to email them, and they don't respond in a timely manner, forget it. Stay away from those that promise you the moon. There are alot of sharks out there who are only looking for that commission check. Think of looking for a loan officer as interviewing a potential employee. Write down your questions and talk to several before deciding on one. Find one that you "click" with. I have a few lenders that I would recommend (very few) but would gladly give you their contact info if you would like. I don't receive anything from them, it is just a service I offer people who need it. Feel free to email me privately for the info. Hope this helps some.

Christina,

I am in loan officer in California - and I agree with what Lora said in her reply. Most importantly - YOU need to feel comfortable with your loan officer. I tell my clients that I look at the loan process as a partnership; the better we communicate, the easier it will be to meet whatever their goals for the transaction are.

That being said, if you feel you are being rushed or pressured into a loan you are not 100% comfortable with (and understand)and are not getting your questions answered to your satisfaction - move on.

Often, the best recommendations come from friends or co-workers. Remember, the loan officer is working for you and you deserve the best service for your time and money.

Hope this helps
