OK, I don't know if this is what you are looking for, but there are a couple of things I will suggest. For starters, make business cards with your website address on it and hand them out as often as you can, even leave them places randomly. Those you can even make yourself.
Also, register with search engines. You pick key words that when people search on you come up. Some are free I think and others cost a small fee. I am not really sure, I know it is time consuming though. My husband is my computer guy. Good luck to you all!

I think the best way to build your online reputation is to spend time in different communities like this. Just add to the converstion, give helpful input, ask questions and things like that. Be kind and supportive and do business with people in the community. Like for wahm.com buy from other moms. Then post to the group how good the service was and how much you liked the product. (If it wasn't good or you didn't like the product keep it to yourself.)
To kill your reputaion, be rude, arrogant, pushy, and bash others.

I think the best approach is to try to make your propective customers or clients happy. If you do it properly, they'll do all your marketing for you. The easiest way is to give them something of value for free. This may include free information, samples, consultations or advice.

I'd do it mostly by writing articles and submitting them to ezine publishers. I'd also participate in discussion forums like this one and answer questions from people who need help in my subject area.
