The question this week is:

Do you take time away from the kids for yourself? If you do, what do you do?

Yes I do take time out from my kids and what I do varies from how much time I really need.

I might do things like, wait for my dh to get home so I can go to the grocery store alone, take another shower, read a book in my room, or send them to a friend's house while I clean.

I think it's beneficial to everyone to get away from each other sometimes. It also keeps those meltdowns from happening and getting way out of hand. If I take a break before I explode than I feel better because I haven't take anything out on my kids.

It also shows my girls how to recognize their own emotions and take the proper steps towards stress management.

Yes. I think I'd have a nervous breakdown if I didn't. Because my husband travels extensively, I have to play the role of a single parent which at times is overwhelming. My Mother's Day present this year is a trip to Georgia to spend a long weekend with my sister. Only 17 more days!!

definately! my husband is gone most of the time too and i can't afford a sitter so i just have to steal a few minutes here and there. some days it is taking a long bath, other days i may read a book or rent a movie to watch. basically anything to help me unwind.

In the long run the pessimist may be proved right, but the optimist has a better time on the trip.

No I don't get away from my daughter. I do have time to unwind and do things alone when she's asleep though. My husband is gone a lot and I don't have a sitter either. I am a night owl so I get my breaks then. Plus she's now 3 and can do a lot on her own. When it gets too bad I lock myself in the bathroom for a few minutes.

Yes, we both take a little time for ourselves durng the day. My husband and I are both at home (I am spoiled )
Most of the day, we are both with the girls, but when the littlest naps, I usually sneak away, and when the bigger daughter naps, my husband will lock himself in the bathroom in the tub, or take a nap.

You just have to find a few moments for yourself, even if it's not until they go to bed. Mom's need to recharge thier batteries!

Yes Moms needs to recharge their batteries!

We head over to my Mom's every Thursday afternoon from lunch to just after dinner. My mom will watch the 3 boys while I do some errands and I have been know to sit in a parking lot reading a magazine or a book with a diet coke, just for some peace and quiet.
