Lots of questions this week

I wanted to add this question to go along with our poll on the home page.

Are you happy as a work-at-home mom? Are you more happy than you were when you worked away from home?

If you were a stay-at-home mom before you started your business, when were you most happy?

Thanks WAHMs! I'm looking forward to seeing your responses.

Cheryl

Well, I'm not a full time WAHM yet. But maybe in a couple of years. And yes, if I were, I think I would truly enjoy it!

I am a SAHM and I am the happiest that I have ever been in my life. It took years of searching and working tons of hours away from home but I finally found the perfect job that is so easy that anyone can do it...even me .

I am happier now than I have ever been.

When my first son was born, I was a SAHM for the first 4 yrs. Now I have been a WAHM for 2yrs and LOVE IT!

My kids are now almost 4 and 6.

It takes research and a little trial and error, but there is something out there for everyone.

I have a two sided answer....yes happier, alot less stress in commuting among other things.....the drawback, I never leave home so the walls begin to close in. In a nutshell....much happier, much more relaxed.

Definitely happier! I work part time outside the home still, but those days I am SO tired, cranky, and ready to drop by 8pm! I much prefer the WAHM days!

I've never been happier than when I could be with my boys (and six years ago, that would have been boy).

We would drop off my oldest son at daycare *before* it opened (5:45am) and pick him up just before closing (6:00pm). A quick supper, a bath for my little guy then I'd sing him to sleep and that was it. I felt a real ache inside during those years.

Now, it' only gonna get better and better!

I am new to this as well. I have to say when I had a job outside of the home I really enjoyed getting to know people, talking to adults more and having a 'regular' schedual. I hated having to juggle the kids though and not being with them even though they were at my parents. It is hard to separate work and home sometimes for me and get into a groove. I love my kids and Iwill make it work though! -Kim

There is no comparison. I am much happier now working at home then when I worked outside of the home. Of course, I didn't have kids when I used to work outside the home, but I just knew it would be too stressful to juggle work and family. I love my little home office and I love working part-time. My family will always come first.

What a great question and one that, surprisingly, rarely comes up among my SAHM/WAHM friends. You'd think we were all Crazy Busy or somethin'.

Happier now? Absolutely. Though I LOVED my pre-SAHM vocation, it did not bring out the best in me.

Too much in-house competition, workplace gossip, self doubts etc. This job, on the other hand, brings on rewards all the way.

I worked outside the home full time before I started my WAH venture. I was totally becoming miserable in being gone all the time. Hubby and I worked opposite shifts so didnt see him much either, life felt confusing and rushed. One day Ijust said THATS IT ~ I went to work, quit my job with no explanation, came home and felt this huge sense of relief. that was like 2 yrs ago. Now I WAH full time and yes I love it. I have a good income and I have more time with my kids. I take my breaks and read with the kids instead of reading a magazine in the lobby ~ much more fulfilling I dont have to worry about having to go to work on a weekend when the boys may have baseball or if the kids want to go fishing I can say no problem!
Now, the new dream is to have DH working from home too!!!

Boy this one is hard because they are a lot of things that I miss about my old profession/passion (optics).

But I can never go back to "when my kids were little and loved me more than ice cream". So I'm very happy to be home with my girls while I can. I'm very fortunate to have a successful husband who can keep me home and is very supportive of me being a full time mom.

I still supplement our income with Herbalife and daycare so that we can still afford to do things like rent movies or go out to dinner.

I think it's tough sometimes. But I wouldn't trade it even for a $20/hr and benefits!

I guess If I had more time I'd be happy, trying to be a work at home mom , and work out of the house a few days of week, to make money plus eerything else that goes with it, and with a son in prescool, well every mom knows what thos hours are like, turn around time to pick up again!
Guess it's time management, going to set my goels for the first of the yr for that!

Oh!! Incredibly happy, There is no comparison! I am so glad to have gotten rid of the 8 hour work day, the boss, the endless time going ito a company that meant nothing for my kids future!

So much happier - especially since I have found the company that I am with now. It seems as though I am finally complete! I searched for so long! I thank God everyday for leading me to this company.

I've been a WAHM for 6 yrs. i don't think i'd ever go back into the "traditional" work force. I love working from home..and i love owning my own business. I have much more control over my income and time. No commuting!

Great Q ! Im much happier WAH but I feel a pang sometimes cuz' i do not make much yet - but hubby is very supportive - Rome wasnt built in a day - I loved being home with my girls when i ran my daycare - and i have to admit this is much Easier & Quieter!!! LOL LOL I do miss those kids sometimes - - I can get them out to school - ORGANIZED!! and be here when they get home right from the bus! PERFECT! and not to sound all 'suzy homemaker' here but.... having a snack ready for them or even baked - is an EXCELLENT feeling!

Yes, I am very happy! I am more happy working from home than outside of the home.

When I was a SAHM (still am I guess), some of the time I needed to myself so I liked it when the kids went to bed. Other times, I loved it in the AM's - when they first wake up and are fairly quiet.

I must say I really enjoy what I'm doing this far. Hopefully it will stay as such. Alot of the positive energy and vibrations that I do in my work help keep me grounded. Helping others' with their concerns and questions is fulfilling and is my favorite "job" so far.

I lost my job due to company merger and have only been home for a few weeks. I really need to fina a job fast. I have a special needs son at home and I have to admit a job from home would be perfect for me. I have had extra time to spend with him and I know he is much happier. I am epileptic myself so I do not drive. A data Entry / Typing position working from home would be perfect. I only found this site a few days ago and have gotten a lot of good info. Unforunately, I still have not found an actual company that hires Data Entry / Typists to work from home.
I know they say God will not give you more than you can handle, but, I really think I am getting close to not being able to take much more. If anyone knows of an actual company that I can call or even e-mail, I would love to hear from you.

Yes, I am not only happy, I am joyful, which involves more of a overwhelming "at-peace" type of feeling.

I always knew I wanted to be home with my kids, and would (and was) happy at that, but my business from home expanded that even further.

Now, I am able to fulfill my own passions as a person, contribute heavily to the family income, teach my children business skills and SET MY OWN SCHEDULE!

Life is GOOD!

EXPECT Success!
