I agree with the ladies, networking sites has increased my traffic. When I first started I spent a lot of time placing ads on classifieds and it honestly didn't work much.

I have to agree with everyone here too. Talk, talk talk and really love what you do! Excitement is contagious. If you are excited about what you do then your customers will get excited too!

Use your own products!
If they are really great, you can't help but talk about them. Not so great? Maybe you better find some other products. You must speak from personal experience.

Two things......having my own newsletter and making it unique, creating a following . . . the other? writing articles, I have an article that went front page link on Dr. Laura's and its really boosted my traffic. If I like someone's article I always visit their site and the more times I see the authors articles the more I learn to trust them and want to do business with them. A great way to generate word of mouth is by asking for testimonials from all your customers. This way, every one of your customers will recommend you to friends.

I have two answers...
Pick up the phone.
It is so easy to market on the Internet these days - and wouldn't it be wonderful if we could just place an ad and watch the sales come in! More realistically, when you pick up the phone and call someone who has requested information, they are usually pleasantly surprised, and you will make a great impression for taking the time to call.
Follow up, Follow Up, Follow up
I think that just as important as finding customers, clients and prospects for your business is following up with them. Timing is not the same for everyone... so it may take a few tries to reach someone who has requested information... but your efforts will reap rewards.
In other words, let people know that you are real. Be approachable. Don't hide your identity. Let people get to know you and trust you... and THEN they will want to know what you have to share.

There's a lot of great advise given! I do agree that word of mouth. Also believing in what you are doing, sharing your success stories, and honesty!

Writing informative articles (related to your work at home business) is a great tool.
You can publish the articles on sites such as http://ezinearticles.com/ and http://www.goarticles.com/ where they will be gobbled up by web site owners who are looking for fresh content to publish on their sites.
You place an "About The Author" tag at the end of the article with a link back to your web site.
Just a single article can gain you free traffic for months or even years to come.
I suggest writing an article a week if you can manage it.
