does anyone have ideas for a mothers day craft idea that a 2 1/2 yr old could do? I am wanting to help me niece make something for my sister this year. We tried handprints and footprints when she was a baby - it was so AWFUL! she was quite mad at us for a while!

My girls just turned two. This last weekend we made "key and cufflink" tray for Grandpa for his birthday. You could do something similar for jewelry, etc. I got an oatmeal container (one with the lid that slids on like a cylinder), some glue sticks, stickers, glitter, markers, and construction paper. I cut the box down until it was only three inches high or so. Then the girls colored, glittered, and put stickers on the paper and I glued it to the box. Then I traced their hands onto a circle of paper and glued it to the inside of the lid. They had a blast making something for PaPa and the mess wasn't too bad.

Here's my idea. Noodle art is always fun and cheap. Construction paper, raw noddles of all types, elmers glue. You can even paint or use markers to color the noddles. Hope you find something.

Hobby Lobby has those kits where the kids color a picture then you place it inside the clear plastic covering... the two I've seen are a mug and a little pot. I let my very young grandkids do that one year for Mother's Day. The kits are only a couple of dollars. ~Melissa

I have quite a few unique craft kits at my website, if you are interested in something like that. There is a great pillow that I made with my 2 year old daughter. She was so excited to be able to draw on something other than paper! Let me know what you think!

a friend of mine had brought in a cute little gift from her niece and nephews
it is a little flower pot and the kids decorated it, there is foam for plants in the pot and on a tongue depressor they glued cup cake wrappers and glued their pictures on them
