8 High Energy Foods to Fuel Your Workday

Energy levels can wane throughout the day, so be sure to eat these healthy foods that give you a boost.

As a work-at-home mom, you are going to need to eat plenty of high energy foods to fuel your workday. This is because junk food that is high in refined sugar or caffeine will only give you energy for a short time (before the effect wears off). Consume the high energy foods listed below, and you will have enough fuel to make it through your day:

1. Dairy Foods

Dairy foods will not only supply you with the calcium your health depends on, they will also energize your body and fuel your metabolism.

2. Grains

Anything that contains either wheat or barley will help to replenish your body.

3. Beans

Beans are a great high energy food because they are rich in protein, which will give you energy and fiber that will lower your cholesterol. They are easy to eat, too, since they can be added to almost any recipe. Of course, they are the musical fruit, so you may want to eat them on a day you don't have to go anywhere.

4. Yogurt

Instead of having something that is high in sugar for dessert, you should try eating some yogurt instead. Yogurt contains calcium, vitamins, B12 and protein, all of which are very good for your body. It is also able to convert nutrients into energy. Your body's natural defenses will also be strengthened by the microorganisms that are in yogurt.

5. Fruits

There are a lot of reasons why fruit is good for you, including the fact that it is able to provide you with a lot of energy. The fruits that are able to provide you with the most energy include:

  • bananas
  • pineapple
  • strawberries

6. Vegetables

Green leafy vegetables are not only high in energy, but they are also great if you are trying to lose weight. The two green leafy vegetables that will be able to provide you with the most energy are cabbage and spinach.

7. Chicken

Chicken is another high energy food that is also great if you are trying to lose weight. However, you will want to make sure that you are eating skinless chicken, or else you will be defeating the purpose here (because there are a ton of unneeded calories in the skin).

8. Pasta

For a long time, pasta has been regarded as a staple food that is able to supply your body with the energy that you need. However, you should only eat an amount of pasta that is proportionate to the level of activity that you will be doing, otherwise you will gain weight from eating too much of it. Opt for the whole grain and whole wheat varieties.

It isn't difficult to include a lot of these high energy foods in your diet. With some simple modifications, you will be able to help your body function at its very best.
